So since I'm better at painting than actually playing I've taken a long break from the game. Sold my 3000 point Imperial Fist army but I'm thinking about starting a new army.At the moment my thoughts on which one are:

Black Legion Warband- Not going to use Abaddon..thinking about using the csm aspiring champion and a sorcerer as the HQ's and
A renegade army - Normal Space Marines lead by a Chaplain. Storyline for them would be them refusing to purge a planet or something thus turning them renegade, but not Chaos.
Dark Angels..Painted a command squad last year that came out really good so I kind of want to see how they'd do.

Any thoughts and/or advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm only going to go with one army since I'm broke as hell lol.

If you're more interested in painting than playing I would recommend Dark Eldar. Updated range, with plenty of textures from cloth, to armor, and skin. Also with lots of possibilities for conversion(Haemonculus Covens), plus a wide range of units types from Monstrous Creatures to sleek Jets.

Determine what model from the 40k range is your favorite and start there.

Fallen Angels (renegade Dark Angels, you can just run Dark Angel models, although, obviously, a few units, such as interrogator-Chaplain, would need to be omitted).

Play Eldar scat bike cheese or Tau Ghost keel Cheese or Gladius SM cheese
