Hey dakkadakka, my mate has quite a collection of orks, and was wanting to construct a 1850 competitive list sadly neither of us know much about competitive orks so we've decided to plea for assistance, compiled below is his collection.
Ghazkull
Weird boy
4 Warbosses
1 mega Warboss
Big mek
145 boys
10 trukks
3 battlewagons
30 lootas
5 burnas
60 nobs
10 bikes
24 deffkoptas
2 dakkajets
5 deffdreads
Stompa
I hope you guys can help, thanks in advance

Nothing is particularly competitive for Orks, and it depends on the environment, but I would start with
stompa
trukk + 10 choppa boys with nob and PK (4 of these)
weird boy
3 single defcopta units (cheap fast objective grabbers)
3* 9 lootas
which leaves you with a bit of wiggle room. From there you can start substituting the units that don't perform for others.

Aren't stompas like 500 points overpriced???
Does the weird boy go with a boys units?
Wouldn't a mek fit better?

That at least gets you to semi competitive, sure you could go double CAD MSU
Big mek, Weird boy,
8 trukk units as above
6 single deffcoptas
6 units of 5 lootas
but that is a lot of units.
Weirdboy will go in with a trukk. I think the psychic powers are underrated, and give some useful AP
Some tankbustas would be nice (if you have some boys armed with rockets they would work)
you could replace some of the trukk units with larger units of shootaboys without nobs.

If you are planning on taking this list to an ITC event, Buzzgob's Big Mek stompa is now cheap (they are allowing the forgeworld misprint since it is technically RAW.)
Even at 770 points the stompa can often get its points back, except against ranged D, which is basically auto-lose anyway.

Do we have a link to where GW's allowed Buzzgob's stompa at 500 points? I took a regular big mek stompa to an apocalypse game but didn't realize it was less than 830?

If you are looking for a fun list then you can get or proxy Mad Dok Grolsnik and take Council of Waaagh! with Battlewagon. Ridiculously overpriced unit but super funny
