Hey guys.
I went to my second tournament this weekend just gone and placed 4th (woo!).
It's given me the bug for
40k again, and me and my group are looking at travelling to a tournament in April. It's 1750 points and judging by what's been restricted (no formations, LOW etc) it seems to be on the more casual side. Which is great, because I'm really not a super-ultra-competitive player.
I have this rough idea, that I think I will atleast test out. It revolves around 3 drop pods and scouts.
Pods will have an Ironclad dread, 10 sternguard and lysander with either sternguard, command squad or honorguard.
And 30 scouts. 10 snipers for backfield and 2 units of 10 with bolters (running IF chapter tactics). Potentially with 2/3
LSS...
Now 2 key questions arise:
-Which unit would be best for Lysander on a turn 1 drop? Shooty or assault to compliment The Man? I'll be putting him and the ICD down first, leaving the sternguard to come in and mop up after the initial frenzy. Maybe even 8 assault marines with 2 flamers. Plenty of bullet catchers in a squad like that. But that is only because I want to leave an Elite slot free for
LotD. Thoughts?
-3 units of 10 scouts can get me 3
LSS. What is the best way to run them? Base, and just hover around back field putting
HB shots down range, and zipping around to get/contest objectives (they'll be obsec, which is a big bonus).Or taking Locator Beacons on the
DPs and deep striking with some accuracy for Melta/Flamer?
The rest of the army will be filled out with what I normally pad it out with. Las
Devs.
TFCs. Land Speeder Typhoons.
Thoughts and directions? Appreciate all comments!
