I have some cork, I have bases, I have ideas and models to make a broken city for my bases, but I'm worried about how I can prime them and paint them without a spray primer. i know that the spray primer can help seal the cork and other stuff to the bases, but I don't have that option. Is it going to be difficult to do with just a brush on primer? I've been holding off on building my bases because I want to make sure I can get them to work before I invest time and energy into it. I don't wanna disappoint myself.

Speaking of ruined city bases, what are some things I can use to make broken up chunks of concrete (like roads and stuff)? The cork is going to be the basis of it, but I still need some chunks and smaller pieces and the cork board i have doesn't seem suited to it. I've never actually tried to make a more decorative base before, so this is all pretty new to me. Normally I just put sand and a tuft of fake grass down.

Brush on primer will work fine for cork.

if you have 3mm cork, you can fold it over each other so it isn't just a slab. Additionally, paperclips or network cable (opened and separated) jammed into the sides looks like rebar and cabling. Sand and small gravel on the edges also helps

Brush on works, I would suggest water it down slightly, to help get in all the cracks.

It would have taken less time to grab a piece of cork a brush and some water and do a test on a piece of cork than it did to write your post.
