Basically, at the end of the day, tons of stuff comes with Tactical Marines, collection/start collecting boxes, a lot of Forge World forces, etc, and it seems inevitable I'm going to end up in the possession immensely more Tac Marines than I actually want (even if I ever want to go for double Demi Gladius stuff, it seems like ending up with over 30 would be pretty easy if I really start picking up various SM stuff). However, this is far less true for Scouts, who seem to come with approximately nothing and would generally have to be acquired seperately.

You can see where this is going.

Is there any sort of light to moderate alteration, or something no too complicated to do with base tac marine types to make them look decent, or at the very least distinct and acceptable, as Scouts instead? I mean, obviously, in some cases alternate weapon bits will be mandatory, but I was wondering if there was a low financial conversion method, as it were.

Not so much. I've seen people try to use Cadian legs & arms with SM torso & head but that's about it.

You're pretty much limited to Scouts, Sniper Scouts, Land Speeder Storm Scouts, and 30k Recon Marines.

If you can get something like Cadian Legs and heads, you can probably make a scout out of a Marine Torso and Arms. Just leave off the backpack and shoulderpads and it should look pretty close.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

Makes sense. I was also noticing FW's "MKIV" recons, as mentioned above, seem to be largely Tac marines with, like, the sensor/transmitter backpacks, goggles, and cloaks. Now, obviously, getting the cloaks onto a model would be night bloody impossible (at least with my questionable eye-hand co-ordination) but if I could find decent "transmitter" backpacks and go light/off the shoulder pads, do you think that would fly?

... Granted this requires me to find transmitter backpack bits. Still, feels comparatively more possible. Backpack, right weapons "See you can distinguish them. Tooootally counts."
