Hi all!

So here I'm, a 34 years old guy, obsessed with 40k since long ago but who never could find the time to play it. I read all the books and am obsessed with the Space Wolves chapter. Last christmas I bought myself a project box and my first set of 10 Space Wolves (a pack of Grey Hunters) to start mounting and painting.

I'm completely new to the game system, this last 2 weeks I checked the forums to see if I could find a "What do you need to know in order to start" but it's kinda impossible to follow up with all the different companies that produce rules.

So, here's what any of you can do to help me if you'll be kind enough to spend 5 minutes helping this n00b.

- What rule books do I NEED. For both the game itself and the Space Wolves.
- A clear list of a 1750p or 2kp army that I can start collecting and mounting?
- A simply hello!

Thanks a lot guys!

Hello!

You'll need the rulebook and the Space Wolves codex.

Welcome to Dakka!

You'll need the Base Rulebook and the Space Wolves Codex.

As for what to field, it'll really depend on the local meta.

Thanks both!

About the army.. .TBH right now I'm not even thinking about winning. I wanna have the basics on "must have" minis to have a proper army.

If you just want to learn the ropes, then I'd say look first to build the basic stuff and consolidate your grip of the rules first. Get a couple of Grey Wolves packs with some Rhinos, a unit of Thunderwolf Cavalry for the extra punch and Long Fangs for anti-armour duty. Sprinkle a Rune Priest on top and find someone to have some low point cost games with.

Hi. Welcome to Dakka

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."

Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

Just FYI there are rumors that there will be a new release for SW soon. I think mostly pointing at a new campaign book.
