Hey all,

I'm looking for an army for tournaments that can compliment my Imperial Guard well. I know Marine bikers aren't the best choice with Guard since they're much more mobile. I was thinking maybe Necrons since I like them quite a bit but the Come the Apocalypse allies status hurts my thoughts on that. Second thought was maybe Grey Knights? Good assault deterrent(charge the blob, Draigo joins the fray on my turn to clean up) and my Artillery can provide support to Draigo and Paladins and Dread Knights. Plus they can give psyker support. Pretty fluffy as well, Coteaz requesting Grey Knights assistance. I'm open for really any opinions.

Thanks all!

Finland

Take the White Scars and take a character with The Hunters Eye and put him into a big blob with some priests. You now have an ignores cover hit&run blob with orders and priest abilities and some mobile, effective and cheap objective grabbers in form of gravbikes.

You can add a Librarian and try to roll for some decent psychic powers for the blob, like Forewarning, Invisibility, Prescience.

You have a point but I feel like the bikes would be off on their own without much support except Artillery and probably pasknisher with exterminator buddy. The blob idea is good though, saves me an order a turn that can be used on FRFSRF.

You could go IG for simple long range support and use the Decurion up front to soak up firepower. Just make sure you have some kind of bubble wrap for your tanks/artillery in the form of cheap conscripts to ensure they don't get Drop podded to death.

Yea that's what I was thinking about doing with necrons, hammer and anvil style approach, but the Come the Apocalypse status was making me question doing so. But then again the Decurion is a bit strong.

What kind of mission is the tournament running? Maelstrom or Eternal War?

Either way, White Scars are a solid bet, but especially for Maelstrom.

I think mostly Maelstrom but there are Eternal War tournaments as well.

I would take the white scars bikers.

Its a very powerful and versatile army list, and it doesn't require a lot of models to setup, carry, transport.

It definitely seems like White Scars bikers are the most recommended option. Are there really any pros to running Grey Knights with my list? Do they bring anything bikers don't? I'm wanting to weigh all my options here but so far bikers are the best option.

Bikers bring you some much-needed mobility and grav which is just gravy against some of the bigbads of 7th.

So it appears most people believe that bikes are the best route to go. How many should I buy for a 1500 point list with Imperial Guard being the main force?

So far my list is
HQ
Pasknisher with Exterminator buddy

Troops
50 Guardsmen with Commissar, Priest and Coteaz

Heavy Support
2 Wyverns
Maybe a Basilisk

I don't have my codex on my so I can't give the point values at the moment.

As many as you can get after beefing up your long range anti-tank and purchasing Khan.

Sounds good, I'm tempted to buy a vendetta or 2 as well. Any opinions on how to get Kor'sarro Khan's model on a bike? As well as multiple Grav Guns on the bikers? I'm assuming the best way would be to buy bits for the Grav Guns. And is it worth running the command squad grav star with a chunk of my points used already?
