Recently my gaming group has gotten into a bit of an arms race starting with the Necron player getting a Tesseract Vault/Obelisk followed by me getting a Stompa for Christmas and then the Tau player ultimately responding by getting the Stormsurge. So to allow us all to have a bit of super-heavy on super-heavy fun I've decided to a showdown between the 3 of us. The points cap will be based on the Tesseract Vault's points cost since it doesn't have any options to upgrade, so I'll be using the kustom stompa rules to make my own discount version from IA8 while the Tau player gets some pathfinders to fill in the gap for points so he can actually use the strength D missiles on the Stormsurge. That being said, I have the issue of figuring out a proper rules scenario, particularly having to deal with turn order. Should it be randomized every time to see who goes first (ala AoS?) or should it follow a fixed turn order like in normal 40K? Furthermore, I was considering preventing too much camping between the various super heavies by having a single objective in the middle worth 5 VP's (while taking out an enemy super heavy is worth 2-3 VP each) so you would have to expose yourself to grab it. Or would it be better to have each side to have their own objectives in their deployment zones? The other question is if it would just be simpler if we made it so it was the super heavy + normal army up to a 1000 points per person, since that way VP's don't ride on just the super-heavy surviving. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
