I've just noticed that the Flail rule (as used on the CSM Power Scourge) isn't in the main rule book at all.

Do no other armies have a weapon with this rule?

The BA does not have a weapon called a flail, however, my codex sucks so bad that my guys do that with their weapons.

Now, we like big books. (And we cannot lie. You other readers can’t deny, a book flops open with an itty-bitty font, and a map that’s in your face, you get—sorry! Sorry!)

It might not be called a flail. The "Power Scourge" weapon in the CSM codex has the special rule "Flail" (can't remember what it does off the top of my head).

I tried looking for it for ages the other day and found it hidden in a tiny box on one page in the codex, but not mentioned at all in the rulebook.

Was just curious if this was the case in any other codecies as it seemed like a rule that could apply to a variety of weapons.

Many special rules are unique to codexes or individual weapons.

Probably not, although I wouldn't put it past GW to name something else "flail" and forget that the CSM already have one.

A lot of special weapons, especially weapons that only exist on one or two units, do not use normal weapon rules and instead have a unique keyword just for itself. Stuff like the ossifier gun (forgot the exact spelling) have this too since the rule will only ever apply to one army and maybe just this weapon.

It's gotten a lot more crazy nowadays, as the USRs were suppose to simplify rules so this doesn't happen...yet it's happening with greater frequency now.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

I believe Forgworld has a Carnifex build that has a Flail-labeled weapon, but I am not familiar enough with it to describe the differences, just that it looks freaking cool and sounded scary when the player was showing it off.

Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound?

Stonecrusher Carnis (FW) could take wrecking claws and bioflail. BF gave them insta death rules iirc.

I think there's a line in the BRB that if a power weapon is not clearly anything else, it's a power mace.
