Shas'ui with Bonding Knife

Having played roughly 24hrs, it's fun. Neither ground nor space is perfect, mostly because of the UI (which is being reworked currently), it is worth picking up and at least trying imo.
Now, if you want people to play with you, instead of bots (who are decent on a medium difficulty) I would suggest checking the steam forums/groups.
Now for the actual game:
The factions are fairly similar, except the ULA have railguns (which are beastly), and the AIA have plasma weapons. Both are very good, but serve different roles. Also, AIA in ground combat always defends and ULA always attacks (in not control zone capture missions which are called "map name" territories)
Initial setup/load in is in a large hub room, kinda like natural selection 2 (but each faction has their own room). In it you can find an armory to test weapons, and a tutorial (which I skipped most of). Loadouts have a points limit (support, combat, and command, each increases permanently as you do various actions that are based on those, such as killing an enemy capturing a zone you are assigned to protect giving both command and combat points), and it affects both fighters, vehicles and infantry loadouts, and of course you can tinker with loadouts on the battlefield, and while not in a lobby (check options menu iirc).
Ground combat starts with mostly everyone on foot, and possibly one or two transports, and as you build up score, you get offered stronger vehicles (such as a MBT or gunship). For all of the missions (so far), ULA attacks, AIA defends, but imo the real fun is territories, which is basically capture points, but thats not to say the A/D isn't fun.
Space combat (not counting the territories missions) start with a capital ship for both sides (which, yes you can pilot), and again, as you score points, you are offered the option to spawn in corvettes/frigates/destroyers. Each side's ships are also equipped with their factions unique weapon (railguns/plasma. Railguns offer high burst damage, while plasma is sustained damage). In addition to the capital ships, there are also fighters, of which each side has an interceptor, fighter, assault fighter, and a bomber (again, you can choose to equip it with your factions unique weapon type). The main difference between the fighter classes is that interceptors are great at killing other fighters but suck at attacking larger ships, while bombers are vice versa, and fighters/assault fighters are more durable, but not as nimble as an interceptor. There's also boarding actions (which can be done once a friendly drop ship successfully lands on a capital ship, so you can get in and attack the various systems. Between the ground and space com bat, overall I'd say space is stronger currently until they add more vehicles and fighters to the ground combat (which is getting a mech soonish, supposed to be next patch iirc). Also space/ground combat is separate currently, space combat doesn't affect ground combat in anyway, but I assume that's because they don't have a campaign mode set up yet/are still working on the rest of the game fleshing it out.
If you liked SW: BF1/2 you'll probably like this. It's a gem in the rough currently since it is beta, but it has a lot of potential assuming they keep being a great company (i.e. not being Overkill, EA, Ubisoft)
Also, feel free to ask questions I'll answer them as best as I can, but the community on the forums is still very friendly and have way more knowledge than I do.
