Hello all,

I know there are a few really good tutorials on how to convert plasma weaponry into plasma talons for RW bikers, but I wanted to ask a different question. Because RW bikers from the DV set are much much cheaper than Black Knights do you think it is acceptable to paint the bolters on the bikes as plasma talons? You can paint glowing blue "plasma" inside the ammo case and inside the barrels as well. I think I will drill out the barrels a little extra and really paint glowing blue light sources. Would you accept this as kosher? For tournaments? Looking for your fine opinions!

Couldn't you chop off the part of the bolter in front of the wind shield and replace it with some plasma coils/barrel (donated from a plasmagun/pistol whatever). I think doing such simple conversion would win you quite a bit of good grace.

Painting a bolter to look like a plasma gun is something I'd expect of Alpha Legion.

If you must paint a bolter to be a plasma weapon, can I suggest you actually try to free hand some details onto the weapon to give it the appearance of a plasma weapon? Cooling coils, horizontal heat vents on the side around the barrel in addition to removing the ammo magazine, etc.

Yeah, this is my first space marine army so I dont have a lot of plasma weaponry laying around. I might just have to get my hands on some bits.

You can usually find plasma poistols very cheap on bits sites as no one really uses them. Replace the bolters with a couple of those and you're beyond reproach.

The DV bikers have their bolters molded onto the bikes themselves, so swapping will require a bit of cutting.

However like others have said, you can just get some cheap plasma pistols off of other people (probably anyone with the new Assault Marines cuz they come with a gakload of the things) and just saw off the front of the bolter and glue the pistol there.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.
