Hello one and all. Hopefully this post will mark the beginning of a rather long odyssey into the world of painting and modelling and then putting the pictures on the internet.

I've been collecting chaos marines since I was around 10 years old, and 12 or so years later all of those clumsy acrylic paintjobs are really staring to show. So, after a week of dettol-fuelled paint stripping that has made my house smell like a primary school mated with a hospital and then dumped the offspring in rural England (and annoyed my partner into the bargain) I am now faced by a sea of grey plastic.
I'm going to do it all again. From scratch. With an airbrush and every other tool at my disposal.

The idea of the army will be that nearly everything can be used in both 30k and
40k - to this end, I'll be painting them up as Sons of Horus Catulan Reavers (black and gold), Word Bearers Serrated Suns (red and silver), Iron Warriors, Alpha Legion and Night Lords. These happen to be all of the legions which swore themselves to chaos undivided, and so never bothered to repaint their armour to match the predilections of their new patron god. Sneaky.

Into the bargain, there are also some substantial armies of non-astartes allies for the legions in the form of Chaos Deamons, Milita and Cults, Renegades and Heretics (/Solar auxilia), Legio Cybernetica and the Ordo Reductor.

In the morning, I'll post up some lists of what I have to paint, and in what numbers, to hopefully use this first post as a tally of how far I've got left to go.

Wish me luck; hopefully some intangible internet support will get me through this.

(Some of this is subject to change if I decide some of the non-marine models don't require stripping).
