hello, new wm/h player here. I was wondering if it is possible to bounce direct attacks from one model with shield guard to another continuously (one per turn of course)
ex:
units a-e standing within 2 inches in a direct line, (a, b, c, d, e) enemy hits unit "a" with a direct attack, all of these models have the shield guard special rule. Is it possible to deflect or "bounce" that attack to unit "e"?

Well I don't see why not. Shield guard says you get directly hit and it only works on range attacks.
Though one quick thing, shield wall and shield guard are separate rules. Models with shield wall don't get to take ranged hits for others. You may have mistyped there but I just want to be clear.

No, you can not pass the hit along. Only the first model hit is directly hit by the ranged attack. So only model B can shield guard model A. Model B was not directly hit by a ranged attack and therefore there is no attack to sheild guard against.
edit: checking the errata it does say the the model doing the shield guard is directly hit. However, I would say that after the initial shield guard the model doing the shield guarding was not hit by a ranged attack but rather by the shield guard ability. Somewhat like a model using self sacrifice can not pass on the attack to yet another model.
I have posted the question on the PP website and will post the answer here.

Self sacrifice doesn't have the same trigger.
It works, since the first shield-guard gets hit it can trigger the second one

It depends on whether after the 1st sheild hit the attack is considered as coming from that model's shield guard or it is still considered as coming from the original ranged attack.
That's why I posted the question on the official boards.

Other rules cause damage themselves (sanguine bond, transfers, etc)
This one changes the model hit by the attack, it works
I've found a ruling about Sacrificial Pawn, which triggers on a model being directly hit by an enemy too

Yes, it seems to be the case that you can cascade shield guards.
