Hey Guys, I was just wondering what your favourite faction and/or army list is.

Looking to build a new army, and I'm not sure which faction to use.

Post army with any points, but the army I'm looking to build will have a max of 1500

Also, what is the best looking faction in your opinion?

I think my favorite army has to be Astral Claws. There are just so many ways to play them across three army lists, vanilla, Seige Assault and Tyrant's Legion, as well as incredibly varied options to actually bring. AND they evolve into the Red Corsairs so there's narrative campaigns available in that vein, but if I had to pick one, I'd say Astral Claws.

Tarpitted.

Imperial Guard, consisting of hordes of infantry and tanks. Mostly Cadian, with some DKoK mixed in. They're mostly collected dust while I work on kill teams from the various factions because making characters is fun.

I think I am going to just invest in AdMech.

Skitarii/Adeptus Mechanicus are definitely up there at the moment for me. Their models look gorgeous in the flesh and rulewise/armywise there is great future potential there, especially if the talk of Skitarii and Adeptus Mechanicus get merged into one army codex.

GW's get started boxes are reasonable value and the getting started with Adeptus Mechanicus box is a good one since all the units in that box are excellent.

Ultramarines 2nd Company (exactly as per the Codex Picture)

Please correct my english. I won't get any better if you don't.

Well, my favorite army has always been Eldar. But since the 6th edition came out and I won two local tourneys in a row, I decided to shelf them. They are still shelved since nothing has changed so far. I might sell them in the near future.
Now my favorite army is Necrons. Fast, deadly and fun to play. I play them mostly in Apoc games. In view of 30k I started a WE army led by Angron. This army also has a fun factor when Angron, Red Butchers, and Rampagers get into cc.

For my Imperial Guard I am a huge fan of Elysian Drop Troops, lots of Elite Infantry mounted in Valkyries and Vendettas descending from the skies to lay waste to the enemy.

19th Krieg Siege Army 7500pts.
40k/HH Night Lords 5000pts.
Orks Waaaghmacht Spearhead 2500pts.

Militarum Tempestus and an Inquisitor leading them. I haven't played them yet, but from what I've gathered they're very fun. They're also gorgeous figures

I love Tau, they are just amazing and Shadowsun is probably my favourite character and model in the game which doesn't hurt. More so, they just have so many options right now.

As for a list, this would be my ITC list at 1850, but just to note I'm doing this from memory on a train so I could get some things wrong.

Dawn Blade:

Ret Cad (all units with bonding knife as required):

Commander ( 2x plasma, stim injector, shield generator) 156pts

Riptide (Ion Accelerator, Stim Injector, EWO, Earth Caste) 235pts

3x Crisis Suits (2x plasma, overwatch buff) 174pts

1x Crisis Suit (Twin linked Fusion, Fusion) 58pts

1x Crisis Suit (Twin linked Fusion, Fusion) 58pts

3x Broadside (HYMP, EWO) 213pts

=======

Drone Net:

4x 4x Marker Drone (224pts total)

========

Optimised Stealth Cad:

3x Stealth Suits 90pts

3x Stealth Suits 90pts

2x Ghostkeel (Stim Injector, CIR) 330pts

======

Piranha wing:

1x Piranha (special one) 40pts
3x 1x Piranha (2x Seeker Missile) 168pts

======

Remember I did this from memory so there might be mistakes but it's the basic idea.

I'll pluck you like a flower.

We can't just choose an army for you dude. What do you like? How do you want to play? What are you struggling to choose between?

Personally, I love Chaos - got several thousand points worth of Khorne-based CSMs. Also building up a Dark Eldar force - Kabalite raiding party-based. The models are just so cool.

Also starting to look at Tau, so I can, you know... win once in a while...

Eldar – I have everything except a scorpion and a phantom, I frigging love space elves

Dark Eldar- back before their update I was using 30 Reaver jetbikes along with raiders, warriors and Razorwing jetfighters

Harlequins – I have all the Harlequins… everything in every combination, I frigging love space Elves

Ultramarines- I have a pretty mean drop pod list but needs to be updated to include a couple of skyhammers

Imperial Knights- I have 1500 points of Imperial Knights, love the idea of gundam style mercenaries and the idea of the knight itself retaining the personalities of the previous pilots in the machine's throne

HH Ultramarines- Just started but I guess you didn’t wanna hear about them

The ‘best’ faction pretty much depends on your definition of ‘best’… Do you mean most competitive (that would be Craftworld Eldar, Marines, Tau and Necrons BTW)? Best backstories? Best aesthetics?

Personally I love my Craftworlders. In the 41st millennium I support their point of view story wise, love their numerous playstyles and their aesthetic, but hey just my opinion.

I love Necrons, fluff, models, and rules-wise. My second favorite would probably be Tyranids as far as models and rules, but my second favorite as far as aesthetic would probably be Eldar.

Tyranids: Love their design. First army going into the hobby so didn't care much for fluff.
Dabbled in Necrons but I hated their new book so stopped them.
Collected Dark Eldar and Harlequins but they are on a back burner at the minute while they are outclassed by Craftworlds.
Orks because I gave up with the hobby and just wanted fun. Main army these days.
Blood Angels for HH and by extension 40k as I didn't want to change legions.
Tau, really liked the Ghostkeel model and Mech suit design.
