Hey all, took a break from the hobby around the start of 6th edition to focus on studies and such and i have a few questions I'm hoping you can all help with.
Number 1: what is Age of Sigmar in relation to the old Warhammer Fantasy Battle system? I understand the introduction of new units and rules but from what i've heard the world was "destroyed?' what implications does that have both lore wise and gameplay wise?
Number 2: what are the major changes to rules in the 7th edition of 40k, and what state have they left the current meta of the game?
Number 3: i've purchased the current tau codex and i've noticed that the stormsturge is listed as a "lord of War" unit. what does this imply and are there any special rules associated with this?
I'm just a tad confused about all this and really appreciate any help you guys are able to lend

1. Age of Sigmar is essentially a simplified version of fantasy, but many people are salty about it (which I completely understand). It basically made many people either quit the hobby or move on to things like 9th Age or Kings of War.

2. Major changes include the psychic powers now have its own phase and the hull points system is slightly less stupid, but everything else are just small changes.

3. A lord of war is a massive war machine or an important character, which is either very rare or not deployed in the fluff often. Because of this you can only take one LOW slot if you take a combined arms (1HQ 2 troops min.) detachment. The Stormsurge is an even bigger battlesuit, which is the size of an imperial knight.

Hope this helps and welcome back to the hobby!

I would definitely try Sigmar, even if its a small game at you lgs. I think the game is fantastic.

I dont play Tau all that much but if I were you I would look into all the battlesuits. I hear there is some big hype (meta, blow every up lol) around them now!
