To me the Chaos Space Marines needed to be characterised as a threat reaching back to the Imperium's past, a threat which had refused to lie down and become part of history. This is in part why the gods of Chaos are less pivotal in Codex Chaos; we felt that the motivations of Chaos Space Marines should remain their own, no matter how debased and vile. Though the corrupted Space Marines of the Traitor Legions make excellent champions for the gods of Chaos, they are not pawns and have their own agendas of vengeance, empire-building vindication or arcane study which gives them purpose.

6x4 is good for up to 2000 point. But once you pass that, unless both sides are mainly elite/low model count you really need to bump up to at least 6x8.

I prefer 48x48, but then again I don't play 2000 points very often (I rarely go above 1500).

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

We can only do 48X72 because that's currently the only surface available to us. Big enough for the few models that we have.

for up to 3,000 (occasionally 4,000) we use a 4x6, beyond that, be bump straight up for a 4x12 OR 8x6.

I'll never be able to repay CA for making GW realize that The Old World was a cash cow, left to die in a field.

500-1000 = 4x4
1000-3000 = 6x4

Above 3000 we start playing it by ear.
