This will be a fun multi-player alliance platform in Armageddon fashion. Participates will fields armies that will work together as a temporary alliance, in effort to defeat overwhelming Necron forces at this Megalithic Stronghold. All player will con as "Desperate Allies"for the bulk of the event, until the very last phase of the scenario when it becomes a "Free-For-All"!
While participants progress through the first phases of the scenario, they will be fighting over acquiring points for various objectives and power-ups on the field of battle. But the final act of this event, players will scramble for survival and obtaining the ultimate pay-off deep within the Necron installation. Three of these events will be held at the convention: Two on Friday, and one on Saturday. You may sign up for multiple events.
Here is a brief synapsis of the narration:
Auspicious celestial events have aroused the curiosity of a host of empires across the vast expanse of the 40k universe. Anomalous activities bloom from a distant corner of the star system, compelling a variety of power-mongers and esoteric truth seekers to a long forgotten planet, haunted by Spirits of the past.
Participating players will launch a modest Recon Expedition to this gloomy planet, to unveil the mysteries teeming within. Unsuspecting parties will soon realize they are not alone on this enterprise at hand. Unconventional cooperation with opposing factions is tantamount to success of the mission objectives, in order to breach the antediluvian stronghold and hollowed ground erected by looming Necron forces, which will be uncovered by wayward glory hounds.
Game Rules (Tentative):
The event will be using up to date Seventh Edition 40k rules. Check for errata addendum at : http://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Rules-Errata, and http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-US/Downloads#warhammer40k
Forge World is allowable
No 30k units permitted
Experimental rules are acceptable
Lords of War are allowed, but they take up your single HQ slot if you chose one
No Fortifications
No Super Heavies or Gargantuans
Single, multi-model HQ units allowed (Archon with Court, Warlock Conclave, etc)
Dedicated Transports allowed
No Force organization units are not permitted
No Formations
Psychic powers allowed but there will be no D6 roll for random Warp Charges for players, only the Necron Enemy for Deny the Witch. This premise is built into the scenario concept. You will still have warp charges added to your separate pools based on total psyker levels in your army or other wargear
Detachment Selection
Each player must choose ONE unit for each of these unit types. There are no size limits to that particular unit chosen, unless it is a vehicle choice and has a combined total AV over 33 or is a Flyer class, then they are limited to ONE. Dedicated transports may selected for each unit type.
ONE HQ or codex Lord of War (non SH or Gar) or Special No Force Org character (i.e Cypher/Belakor); Imperial factions may substitute an Inquisitor as an HQ selection instead
ONE Elite unit; Imperial forces may substitute this selection with an Imperial Assassin. Imperial factions that chose an Inquisitor as their HQ may choose an Inquisitional Warband as their Elite slot instead.
UP TO TWO Troop choices. But may only select one if so desired
ONE Fast attack unit (Cult Mechanics can sub in Skitarii units for the fast attack choice)
One Heavy unit
Generally, we'll allow a Battle Brother choice of closest resemblance is the Codex Faction is missing a Unit type. Email me for confirmation.
***Tyranid players have a special "Wild Card" role in this scenario. They may not ally. They will be able to precision Deep-Strike and Outflank with their whole detachment. They con as an enemy to Necron forces and any faction they are physically closest to and any faction they are within 8" of. Tyranids see all players as enemies and may attack any of them without restriction. Tyranid players may have an additional 30 percent more points to their army totals in reserves after their base detachment has all been deployed on the table. (3 player game: Tyranids start with 1000 point. After the total 1000 points have been deployed onto the table, next round they can begin reserves with an extra 300 points in the sidelines). This does not apply in a two player game (ex. Tyranid plus one other participant).
Bring 1500 points in models. Your army size will depend on the amount of participants per scenario. Two to Six players are permitted per event. This is the point breakdown:
2 players= 1500 points each
3 players= 1000
4 player= 750
5 players= 600
6 players= 500
Example detachment:
Skitarii with Inquisition/OA:
HQ: Inquisitor Lord Hector Rex and Retinue
Elite: Callidus Assassin
Troop: 10 Skitarii Rangers unit
Fast Attack: 3 Sydonian Dragoons (single unit)
Heavy Support: 1 Onanger Dunecrawler
The scenario will be played in multiple phases and layers, resulting in an extended table top as you and your allies progress. There will be power-up and Points of Interest that provide healing and possible revival of lost units through reserves. These objectives also provide Objective Points. The player with the most Objective Points wins. Random events and encounters will spawn during the course of the scenario. The event is meant to be fun and exciting, not super serious.
