So I'm playing my first game in about an hour as Imperial. I have 15 points left and I am wondering if I should either use a naked Tie/fo or an academy pilot with a Stealth Device. As anyone smarter than me weighted the pros and cons of this?

Just as an fyi, I'm playing this:

"Whisper" (32)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Fire-Control System (2)
Rebel Captive (3)
Advanced Cloaking Device (4)

"Omega Leader" (21)
Juke (2)
Comm Relay (3)

"Epsilon Ace" (17)

Epsilon Squadron Pilot (15)

Total: 100

It's the last dude I'm not sure about.

None of the above. Take the academy pilot, but put a comm relay on epsilon ace instead of the stealth device.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Just an Academy Pilot with no upgrades. If you're flying Whisper you're going to want to bid for initiative.

This is what I faced:

Turr Phennir (25)
Veteran Instincts (1)
Autothrusters (2)
Stealth Device (3)
Royal Guard TIE (0)

Soontir Fel (27)
Push the Limit (3)
Autothrusters (2)
Stealth Device (3)
Royal Guard TIE (0)

Darth Vader (29)
Advanced Targeting Computer (1)
Engine Upgrade (4)
TIE/x1 (0)

Total: 100

And I ended up using the Epsilon pilot. Which ended up killing Vader. I had really lucky dice. I barely had to use my target locks during the game. I was very good on placing Whisper and dodged arcs just enough to be able to fire, usually in range 1. She accounted for Turr Phenir and Soontir Fel almost on her own. Even though Omega Leader didn't have the upper hand on his list, He was still able to be a credible threat. He steered very clear of him.

I understand what you mean by just using an Academy Pilot and putting a Comm Relay on Epsilon Ace. Although he was unable to land a single hit on that ship throughout the whole game, it would have saved my bacon had he been able to roll some hits.

But I tell ya, rolling 5 hits on Soontir who's already lost his Stealth Device... hmm hmm good.

And I agree about the initiative. It was hairy quite a few times.
