Hi everyone,

The LFGS near me just started up a KoW campaign/league and I've been dying to play KoW for a while. I played a bit of WHFB, but that was mostly in 6th edition. I plan on building an Orc and Gobbo force, however I want to get in a few games with the models I have on hand. My Wood Elf army is fairly large, however I'm not sure how to field them in KoW. Would my models best be served by a combination of Elves and Forces of Nature? Or is there a Wood Elf equivalent in the expansion book I've heard about?

I'm mainly looking to recreate the feeling of having this nimble, skirmishing army that repeatedly fires and retreats while using my movement to pull off multi-charges to snipe enemy units. Is that sort of strategy viable at all? I know there are no loose formation skirmishers, but maybe some infantry with Nimble?

On the other hand, bolt throwers and chariots in Wood Elves seems pretty awesome...

Elves are all you need. Honestly the best way to go about getting some info is to make a list and then we can look at it and offer suggestions.

Nothing beats practice though.

kow2.easyarmy.com is the best way to make a list.

Sure! The max point value for the first half of the league is 999pts. I came up with the following:

Elven Prince
Elven Standard Bearer
2x Regiment of Archers
1x Regiment of Palace Guard
1x Regiment of Tallspears
2x Troops of Silverbreeze Cavalry

999 points is tricky since it is so easy to break the game but since it seems you are all new it should be ok... The game is best at 2k points plus.

My list using the units you provided would be:

1 X Kindred Archer Horde with Piercing Magic Item (cheaper than 2 regiments but easier to stop, more damage output though).

1 X Palace Guard Regiment

1 X regiment of Tall Spears

2 X Silver Breeze troops

1 X mage with inspiring magic item, horse and bane chant

This leaves you with a annoying 14 points to spend on magic items. There is so much you can do with so many units and combos, but I think the list is a bit more refined, still your list essentially. When you start playing you will find your own playstyle and as you play with more points you will undoubtedly change your list a lot.

Hopefully this helps.

Thanks for that! I'll try it out. Where do I find the rules for the magic items?

Press the green plus sign on the easy army site linked above and it will come up with all the options. They will show when you look at the pdf of your list.
