Subject: Emperor's Hounds: looking for feedback
|
 |
Pestilent Plague Marine with Blight Grenade
|
So as the title suggests I am looking for feedback for an idea I had floating around in my head, a space marine chapter by the name of the Emperor's Hounds. They distrust the inquisition but are not powerful enough or have enough influence to oppose them like the space wolves do, so they curse them under their breath.
As for their paint job I imagined them to be dark purple with a silver trim but I discovered that to be similar to the soul drinkers so I added white on the helmets and other areas. My main worry is that they are too similar to the space wolves in the way I named a few things in the organisation of the chapter. They adhere to the codex mostly with a few changes. Instead of 10 companies they are called packs. Each company is led by a alpha marine. The chapter master is called the great hound and the chapter prefers close combat to ranged.
They have a homeworld in the segmentum tempestus and it is a feudal world, with villages, castles, vassals and limited technology. It pays its tithes to the imperium in terms of food and manpower. The chapter recruits many of its warriors from the population but in an effort to avoid culture shock tries to recruit its serfs in the surrounding worlds. The planet is often targeted by Dark elder raids which strike a village and are generally away with their slaves before the marines can arrive. This has caused a deep hatred to burn in the hearts of every marine for the elder and they don't distinguish between the two types of xenos.
They try and be cooperative to there space marine brother chapters and believe that they serve the emperor first and the imperium second. They do not get on with the Exorcists however and see them as lap dogs of the inquisition and they try and stand up for the chapters that are looked at with suspicion such as the black dragons.
That's all I can think of right now, looking forward to the feedback guys

Seems alright to me. I'm not sure about the Crimson Fists being seen as "lap dogs" of the Inquisition, but other than that it seems fine to me.

To the best of my knowledge the Crimson Fists have NEVER done that. Now, that's not to say it hasn't happened, just that I'm fairly certain that it hasn't happened. And you're welcome to bring them into the Crusade. Just be aware that our current Crusade is in the process of wrapping up, but soon after that we are starting a new one. Feel free to ask questions about in the OOC thread for the Crusade.

I've never watched that video, but to the best of my knowledge (as I said) the Crimson Fists haven't done that. I know the Space Wolves are rumored to have eliminated one of the lost legions during the HH, but that's about it. Maybe you're thinking of the Minotaurs?

I watched the video again, it said they have close ties to the inquisition and have personally assisted in destroying two renegade chapters. The minotaurs are a whole other kettle of fish.

Fair enough. I didn't watch that video. And yes the Minotaurs are certainly their own thing, but I thought that might have been what you were thinking of. Carry on then

Just as a point, defending Chapters that showed genetic deformities? That just seems a little opposite to what the Emperor seems to have wanted (what with him wanting to purge genetic flaws - otherwise, why would Sanguinus be so afraid about his own Legion's flaws? I'm sure he mentions how he'd be afraid of the Emperor's wrath.)
I'd either tone down the Emperor loving side, and support the people of the Imperium, or support the Emperor's ideals and hate deformed chapters, hereby setting up a Slaanesh-fall plot hook.
Again, CF are not a huge force of Inquisition vengeance - rather the Minotaurs or Exorcists?
Aside from that, seems legit.

It's a very long thread, just warning you now. But you can feel free to ask any questions you have about the new Crusade. One of the GM's for the new Crusade (and the resident mind-fething expert) has some information about the new Crusade posted on the first page of the OOC thread.
