My FLGS is starting an escalation league. I may not get to go, but of what I have assembled, this is my first list attempt. I have an American Platoon of Nisei, a Sherman, Starter Box, Medium Mortar Team, MMG Team. I have never played. Is it good or silly? Also... at least second Lt is required.

You have insufficient infantry. While the sherman is potent, at 500 points the 76mm will struggle to make back its points. You would be better off with some beefier squads and a 75mm Sherman if you really want a Sherman tank.

Also a medium mortar will do the job and give you some extre points.

Ok... you say no Sherman, or the smaller gun?

I must say, the folks I will be playing against are "gamey" and not the tawny port, big cigar, back-slapping, chaps talked about in Black Powder, although this is what I would like. They are recce-is-bad-ass, min-maxer, 40k west coasters. I am too I guess, but I want historicals to be a gentleman's game.

Also, when allocating casualties is it closest to firing unit like 7th ED 40k or what? I couldn't find that in the rules reading at the pub.

What kind of tanks are the opponents bringing? If you're going to be facing Panthers or other tanks with powerful gun then you might want to replace the Sherman with something like a Wolverine, which has the heavy 76mm gun for 55pts less.

IIRC casualties can be removed from any part of the unit.
