I'm not talking about strategy RTS game out next month.

GW announced their specialist games but NOTHING apart from saying BFG was on their list. When is this launching? It's been MONTHS already.

I posted this to general discussion because specialist forums gets nobody on it.

They announced the creation of the Specialist Games Studio. Their first game is slated to be Blood Bowl, and they're saying late 2016/early 2017 for that.
They haven't finished hiring for the SGS, they probably are still finalizing the location and staffing, etc.

So, you'll be waiting awhile. But that shouldn't come as a surprise because the blurb they posted that included them mentioning BFG? It said that it would be awhile.

BFG was a terrible game, though. SFB or Bab 5 Wars were much better space combat games.

Definitely not this year for Blood Bowl.

And Battlefleet Gothic is a good beer n' pretzels game. Its not meant to be a space combat simulator like Star Fleet Battles.

Is beer n' pretzels code for terrible? Or maybe a euphasism?

Is a 'good game' code for hobby bookkeeping? Because that's all I see with Star Fleet Battles. Just because you don't like a game doesn't make it a bad game.

Play halo fleet or armada it'll be cheaper and better supported.

This is news to me.
Is it confirmed its being revamped or is it just here say based on the foundation of a "specialist games" studio?
I always liked BFG.

Finally found my quote from a gym buddy born and raised in South Korea:
"It is the soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press.
"It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us the freedom of speech.
"It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us the freedom to demonstrate.
"It is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag."

Main issue will be anything not in the board game will be made by forgeworld not GW so it'll be resin and expensive.

So even if by some miracle blood bowl isn't £100 buying a resin team will be.

The guy in charge of Specialist Games has said that they will be getting production time on the plastic machines, so that's not true.

Given that 2017 date for Blood Bowl, don't hold your breath.

Wow this is going to be freaking ages. Maybe 2018 or 219.

WOW

So will there be at least plastic minis? Will the scale be the same as before? Man!

Considering that both the assassin game and calth were plastic, that any further board games will be in plastic.

There are better fun space combat systems, BFG was always a bit clunky.

The minis were great though, I'll be stocking up on those!

18 months minimum, they are only just putting the team together for the studio let along start BFG.

Awww I love BFG, and still play small matches. I really enjoyed doing boarding party actions a la' homemade space hulk-esque boards. Played a really good campaign where a BFG game was happening while a couple 40k games were going on, winner of the BFG match got to do one orbital bombardment a turn on the 40k games for their side. IT WAS AWESOME!

It has its flaws but it is a game that is quick to play. B5 takes a lot of time.

Well if you really want to get your taste of BFG quicker, Dropfleet Commander is coming out this summer. It's previews of the rules have clear influences of BFG in it.

I thought BFG was great and it was a fairly inexpensive game to play. It sucks it is going to take them that long to release the new version.

Active armies, still collecting and painting First and greatest love - Orks, Orks, and more Orks largest pile of shame, so many tanks unassembled most complete and painted beautiful models, couldn't resist the swarm will consume all
Armies in disrepair: nothing new since 5th edition oh how I want to revive, but mostly old fantasy demons and some glorious Soul Grinders in need of love
