Hey Guys,

I got a couple of questions and, since they're not complicated questions, I figured I'd bundle them into one thread:

1. Are Iterators still in any way a thing let alone active in the Imperium after the Horus Heresy? Or did they cease to exist in favour of Commissars and Chaplains (for which they are supposedly the precursor)?

2. With the Loyalist Legions post-Heresy, they were broken into successor Chapters, with each Legion having a Successor Chapter who was essentially the Chapter version of the Legion (e.g. Ultramarines Legion had a whole bunch of Successor Chapters including the Ultramarines Chapter). Was this the case with the Traitor Legions?

What I mean is: when they all separated into all the Warbands, were there Warbands that shared the same name as the Legions they descended from?

No Clue on number one, but....

Some Chaos Legions managed to stay together, others splintered into their own warbands that still used the Original Name, Some have Successor Warbands that are just unique offshoots with new names and paint schemes. There really is no rhyme or reason to Chaos.

For the Most part they just follow the biggest baddest Warlord they find as long as it serves their purpose. And if they think they can get a leg up in the world by offing a Higher ranked Champion, or the Warlord himself, they'll try it. If this Warlord, Be it Abaddon or Random Slaaneshi Lord, says his Warband is The Black Legion, there's really nothing saying he isn't. Even if the Random Lord isn't Abaddon, who is the Warmaster and as close to a de Facto leader as Chaos Marines, Let alone the Black Legion, gets, That Random Lord in his Black and Gold Armor still controls a Warband that is a part of the Black Legion and is free to do whatever He wants with his warband using the name of the Black Legion.

But if Abaddon told him to knock his stuff off and help him with something, he probably would because even the Daemon Primarchs answer when Abby comes a callin'.

For me Chaos Marines look at it a little differently to the loyalist chapters we have now.

Most of the chapters seem to think more of them being whatever their successor chapter is rather than what legion they were originally. (with exceptions obviously).

So Successor Chapter Brand X thinks of its self as Brand X rather than as Chapter Brand X of the Legion Y.

With Chaos it seems more like they are still the legions whether or not they have split out into different warbands or not.

A Nightlord is still a Nightlord even when he is part of The Exalted Zogs Warband of Unending Grumbling.

DO the Legions still operate as Legions? Well some of them do certainly (as in some parts of some legions), but all of them? I doubt it.
