Posted a while ago to ask how one would go about making a thunder hammer (fist of dorn) look white hot, similar to this
http://i.imgur.com/lLovRo4.jpg

While I haven't got round to it yet, I would like to know if people think it would look better to have the hottest part at the edges or emanating from the centre.
While I understand that it would make sense for the edge of the hammer (i.e. the surface that will be delivering the hit) to be the hottest, and therefore more damaging, but I can;t help but feel that it would look pretty cool to see the heat originating from the fist (in the middle) out to the hammer heads.

Whaddya think?

Edit: also, as the fist is meant to be black (I think), how would you go about adding a heat glow effect to black metal???

Here is a nice tutorial I used to paint my thunderhammers.

What you need to do is change the colors and if you want the white to come from center you will need to follow the tutorial backwards in terms of color. Basecoating in white then blend outwards with a light orange, a darker orange and maybe put some black on the tips.
