There are two sides, the attacker and defender of a castle in Japan in 1560. Each side needs three players.
The idea of a committee game is that you play the role of a senior commander or official. Following a personal brief, you have to work with your colleagues to arrive at the decisions the game requires. The umpire works out the results gives you reports on the success of your decisions.
The objective of play in my game is to balance the decline in morale of your force against the expenditure of rations. The side that runs out of rations or morale first loses the game. However the purpose of playing is not primarily to win, but to explore the difficulties of commanding a force that isn't composed of telepathic heroes who do whatever you want all the time.
I would like to play the game on a daily basis, so each side would need to have a virtual committee meeting, perhaps by Instant Messaging, then send the orders of the day. The next morning I would send back the results. However if this schedule is difficult, we could run it slower.
I would expect the siege to be resolved in perhaps two to three weeks of game time.
This game is an experiment to see if I can make a fun wargame that doesn't involve any movement or combat. Therefore I hope when it's finished, the players will give some feedback on their experience.

That's a interesting concept you have there.
Guessing decided roles, master of the armoury, master of the stores, wall captains, and the like. A high lordof the castle served by advisers etc.
Bit like a real seige a lord had various retainers and advisers who serve the departments and key cultural leaders like a preist (insert local religion) who can have a role in morale of garrison.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all. |

Jolly good. We need five more people, because the game is designed to work with two war councils of three each.

This also interests me. Seems like a great concept and I'd be interested to see how it pans out

Anyone who definitely wants to play should send me a PM and I will allocate a role randomly and send the appropriate briefing.
Obviously we can only start when we have six players.
If people don't want to play a turn every day, which might be difficult because of the amount of discussion each side has to do, then we can just play at the speed that works for people.

We now have six players, so there are no more places. I am contacting the players by PM to set up the game. Once the game is ready to run, I will start a thread in the Campaigns forum, for general chat that we might want to do. Weather reports, notable incidents, samurai shouting at each other over the walls, and so on.
