Two X wings, one T70, three Z, and a hwk, and they all got run over like a semi truck at a bicycle race. It was ugly. I am just thinking I suck as a pilot.

Because I don't have an epic ship, the guys are letting me use any cards I want, so I went a bit crazy. 2 B wings, 3 K wings, and 3 Y wings, all with twin laser turrets.

I can mix the two ship lists, but those are all that I have. Any suggestions?

i think, and I've played only a few games of epic, but you can take down big ships you just got to know how to play against them. for example:

The raider; get in behind it and hit it's back section and cripple it.

the Tantive; I believe it is the opposite to the raider. cripple the front and you've got it.

the Transport and carrier; I haven't been up against the transport so can't comment and the carrier I had my first game against it last night and haven't worked out what's best to take it out.

in the end just use something, or sheer numbers of ships, that can put out a lot of shots each turn. and keep clear of them.

well that's my two cents

Lothlorien: 3500pts
Rohan: 1500pts
Serpent: 2000pts
Modor: 1500pts

Force multipliers matter, if you have one ship that gives other ships within a certain range X , then you make all of those ships are in that range to get the benefit. Etahn for example is gross in epic. Stack up on heavy laser-cannons,you need lots of red dice. Concentrate your fire. Don't shoot at 6 different ships in the first pass, shoot at 1 ship till it is dead, then move to the next. Same with the big ships. Shoot til it is crippled, then shoot at the aft section, unless crippling it takes it out of the game

Came here to say this.

To borrow a saying from Warhammer 40k Ork players: boys before toys.

Taking lots of generic ships is never a bad idea. Ace pilots who normally do very well in 100pt games often get ignominiously shot down by hordes of cheap generics and focused fire from Huge ships. And the ships that have force multiplier abilities get better in Epic (e.g., Ehtan, Howlrunner).

Urr... did you have some sort of plan? Was there ordnance anywhere on those ships? Torpedoes and missiles might be iffy in regular play, but I gather they can be quite nice in epic play. 3 K-wings sounds like a scary gunboat squad.

Intuition seems to say that TLT are better at hunting small ships, with the buckets of dice thrown but little possible damage, rather than thos big honking ships.

Being able to consistently put down ion tokens on an epic can be nasty. If you can limit it's energy, you can vastly limit the pain it can dish out, as well as make it easier to kill.
