Sadly, they're watercolours, so it's really not going to work that well. If they were acrylics, yeah, you could water them down, but I can't see watercolours really working without something to soak into.
Some people use watercolour washes as an alternative to oil washes. I've personally never tried it, but I've heard it doesn't work as well as oil washes but has the benefit that you don't need to use harsh solvents.
