This will be quite a short battle report because it was quite a short game. It wasnt super close and no one was on the edge of their seat but I still think it's worth telling due to how much of a total white wash it was.
So this was chaos marines vs chaos marines, 1500 pts each. I was running obbies with cultists, a noise marine shooty shooty squad, a heldrake and Lucius with a noise marine combat squad inside a dreadclaw using the rules from the third Horus Heresy book.
I get the first turn as well as first deployment. Things dont look good as I roll on the warlord trait fear for Lucius, which is terrible as the number of attacks he gets is equal to his opponents WS (I got this on the reroll) and then for my gift of mutation for my noise champion I got eternal warrior...on a one wound model...yay.
My luck quickly changed however. He didnt have much on the table first turn - just a land raider holding Kharn and some bezerkers and then a 5 man squad of marines. He had Abadon, termies and raptors in reserve. I fire four lascanons from my obbies into his land raider. Three hit, one penetrates. I roll a 6 on the table and as it's a lascanon it's AP2 so the landraider explodes. On the first turn. To make it even better, three bezerekers died in the explosion. I manage to kill a couple more of the bezerkers with shooting from the last two obbies and noise marines. Not a bad first turn.
On his turn, he moves Kharn and his bezerkers out of line of sight from my guns, but that also happens to be in the same direction as where my dreadclaw had landed (dreadclaws deep strike turn 1). Go onto the next turn and my heldrake comes in, kills the rest of the bezerkers with the baleflamer and wounds Kharn. Dreadclaw moves 6", Lucius and his squad disembark and move their 6" and then proceed to kill all but one chaos marine with two doom sirens. On his turn he gets Abadon and the termies and also the Raptors. He deep strikes them both behind my oblitorator, cultist and noise marine line, which concerned me a bit as my main combat squad was on the other side of the board. However, the raptors roll two 6's to scatter and go off the board, delaying them until next turn. He also decides to try and deal with Lucius and his squad with the two marines including Kharn he has left. The first marine soaks up the overwatch and promptly dies to doom siren fire, while Kharn runs in, challenges Lucius whom must accept, but then gets hit with 7 attacks from Lucius at higher initiative and dies before he can attack back. I roll on the chaos boon table and Lucius turns into a Daemon prince. Was pretty funny, although it did mean he couldnt get back in the dreadclaw and was now stuck on that side of the map, so he just held an objective.
On my turn I decide to put my heldrake in hover and send my dreadclaw over there as a flyer. My dreadclaw has an attack which is str 5 D6 attacks on any model is passes over, so after burning two termies with the heldrake my dreadclaw flies over the remaining three including Abadon. For the first termie I roll a 6. For Abadon I roll a 6. For the last termie I roll a, you guessed it, 6. Both termies are dead and Abadon is now left on one wound. Six lascanons hit him in the face and end the game.
Was pretty fun, though I admit extremely one sided.
Hope you enjoyed the battle report!
