I recently started a bike army, White Scars, but (honestly!) mainly because I fell in love with Chris Wraight's depiction. Damned authors. I have two hundred Ultramarines entirely because of Dan Abnett. After a couple games, which I realize isn't enough to master an army, I came to the conclusion that I really don't know how to run this list. Are there general tips for using bikes? And I mean, really general - can apply to most similar units, and spelled out in third grade English. I do read battle reports, I get the mobility helping to get objectives, but it's not "clicking".

As a nineteen year veteran of this hobby you'd think I'd have a better grasp on this game, but, I seriously need help. Not looking to smash face in tournaments, but I want to do well

Thanks!

I found this one helpful. Start reading at the 11th post.

That post is two years old, and while many of those concepts are still valid, there are others you should consider as well.

Look at formations, as they are they key to really maximizing your army list. The White Scars have some amazing rules, and no one (worth caring about) will give you crap because your White Scars are blue.

I guess I've been trying hard to apply the new rules and formations (mainly for fun) but I'm treating my bikes like heavy cavalry. I know I ought to play to my mobility, I guess part of me is looking for principles (or a walk-through.... Turn one, move here, turn two, do this lol)

For some reason tactics in other games come easier to me.

Thanks for the help!
