Here's a quick Grey Knights Shadowsword that I painted up a little while ago. It is always odd to paint the old Armorcast minis, because they all really just up sized the epic scale minis.

The rivets are simply huge.

Edit- I originally mislabeled this as an Armorcast baneblade, but I have been twice corrected. This mini was made by Forgeworld USA (who had an official license to make 40k minis just like Armorcast had). The sculpt was originally armorcast, but it was redesigned a little and produced by Forge World USA.

Edit- It is very difficult to tell the difference between the Armorcast and Forgeworld USA minis (as I understand, FWUSA just re-cast the Armorcast tank to begin with). But this mini has indicators that it was cast by Armorcast and not Forgeworld.

That's a Shadowsword, but regardless it's very good work!

Sorry, but this was the only angle we got on it before we mailed it out.

Its nicely done, but I must say its not really up to your usual quality.
The tracks looks a bit flat and basic.
Mostly Im bothered by the sloppy outlines of the red and white fields. It almost looks like the dirt was added as a lazy way to cover up the lack of sharp, straight lines between the red and white.

Just being overcritical because you usually show us flawless work though

I commissioned this piece, and was very happy with the quality. I'll upload some more pics tomorrow

That looks like it would be a hefty model. Is the tank body a solid block of resin or is it hollow?

Awesome model. I dig the old Armorcast stuff, and I think this is the first time I've seen a painted Armorcast Shadowsword.

Are the laser turrets keyed into the hull or on simple pegs in holes?

I did have a rough time photographing this guy- he's big. The mini is sort of hollowed out (somewhat).

The thing to overcome with all old Armorcast minis is that they actually look like they're sculpted in a different scale from your army.

That's why I added in things like the battle damage and mud- and I was very happy to be painting some of the other details added to the mini (like the banner and Grey Knights insignia on the side of the turret).

Those sorts of details help bring the mini in line with a more current army.

As for whether it is working, you lot can decide for yourselves.

I would be too! It looks awesome in the one pic we have, I can't wait to see the rest of the pics when you get them uploaded.

Looks good. I dont consider it that great of a model for the reasons you mentioned and its kind of just flat plates unlike the GW version. But you made an ok model look great.

I picked up one of those about a year ago to have as a ride for Perturabo before I remembered it adds to the total points of the LoW in 30k(no more than 25% of the force can be in LoW) so it is gathering dust until I can figure out something to do with it.

Yes it is a big heavy hunk of resin and the turret guns have pegs so they just drop in from above.

If you dont short hand your list, Im not reading it.
Example: Assault Intercessors- x5 -Thunder hammer and plasma pistol on sgt.
or Assault Terminators 3xTH/SS, 2xLCs
For the love of God, GW, get rid of reroll mechanics. ALL OF THEM!

Any of the Baneblade and Shadowsword kits that have laser turrets that just drop into holes are not Armorcast kits. They are kits made by Forge World Models (USA) which were molded from a broken Armorcast kit and then "simplified".

Forge World Models kit. You can just make out the molded in repaired crack (light line) from the panel in front of the sponson, under the sponson and then to the rear panel.

Final Armorcast high detail version. Had the license continued, this would have been the level of detail on any new (or upgraded) kits.

Ok, so this one is a Forge World USA mini. I'll make a note of that.

It is the same sculpt as the Armorcast one, to be sure.

Hey guys, here is the promised additional photos. Please note this tank was the armourcast tank, as evidenced by the stamps on the inside of the pieces. I have just done some remodeling (didn't have the barrel extension peice etc...). I am nto very good at taking photos but enjoy:

The details sculpted on the side sponsons really help tie the model to the Grey Knight army. Awesome stuff!
