So as we all know, Chosen are overcosted and underwhelming. It's the CSM version of Veterans without the fun of ACTUALLY feeling like they Are Veterans.
So Here's my simple Proposal to make them a bit more worthwhile: At the Beginning of the game, for each Chosen squad you have, Roll on the Chaos Boon Table, Rerolling Spawn or Daemon Prince. The entire squad gets that Boon for the Rest of the game.
Of course they'll be times when your 1W squad of Elite Warriors gets Eternal Warrior and overall just compounds the random nature of the Codex, but it gives the Chosen something unique to them and they would be more tempting to take overall than just CSM+ 1LD and attack.

I think their own specific table to roll on instead of the big one would be a better idea. I like where you're going with this though.

I say make em 2 wounds and give them access to terminator armor, jump packs and bikes.
Basically a "build a character" thing except a whole unit of them. That'd be real chosen. Oh and vet skills again. Because 10k years in the eye of terror and all they know is how to carry 1 extra special weapon is just..disgraceful.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

I think it would terrific if they had access to steeds and came default with Aura of Dark Glory. Just imagine a juggerlord with his juggeretinue...

Your suggestions for Chosen sound similar to what they had in Fantasy for the last few editions.
Firstly, I hate the Chaos boon table and the forced Challenges rule. It makes no sense for Chaos marines and the rules are terrible. I would do away with those rules entirely.
They should be WS 5 and have Chaos armour back so a 2+ save. They should come with Stubborn and VoLW for free and have every conceivable option available in the book.
On top of this they should have a rule that allows them to pick and choose their special rules at the beginning of every game.
Black Operations:
Chosen Marines are the elite special forces of a Chaos Warband. The entire unit may choose two of the following special rules: Infiltrate, Scout, Tank Hunter, Monster Hunter, Preferred Enemy (everyone), Rage, Furious Charge, Hit and Run.
*Infiltrate may not be combined with Jump Packs or Chaos Bikes.
These guys should be the scalpel of the Chaos Marine army, anything you need them to do, they can do.
Then you could have Chosen Terminators as an alternate unit. These guys would be WS 5, W 2 and be equipped with terminator armour. They could be more like Grey Knight Paladins and have access to up to 4 heavy weapons etc.

I think that doesn't make chosen into chosen, because putting power armor chosen on the table doesn't benefit from having access to terminator armor or steeds. It's not like you have all the benefits at once, or can switch between them during the game. It's just that any power armor models people still have are bad, and steed or jump pack models may or may not be bad, depending on whether the wargear costs more than zero points.
Having +1 A should just benefit the models in the shooting or movement phases, and having +1 Ld should also benefit the models in the shooting or movement phases.

It would be pretty good. I'm glad they don't have separate points costs, and that they get two.

2+/6++, I think.

I actually LOVE the idea of forced challenges and a Boon table. It's just that the current incarnation of the table fething SUCKS.

I feel like the Chaos Boon chart and manditory challenges was good for Warriors of Chaos from Fantasy, but for CSM it feels too forced. The boon table could fit maybe, but outside of the World Eaters i can't really imagine any other legion forced to challenge. Especially one like the Night Lords.
Either way, forcing someone to challenge for some pitiful random gift that will probably never even come into play and just slows the game down doesn't strike me as a good rule. If they had made the boon table well, and offered some very good gifts then the forced challenge thing wouldn't even be necessary. People would actively want to challenge so they could roll on the table.
I think having 4 separate tables for the 4 chaos gods but only a d6 roll with 6 options would be preferable. If you have a mark, you have to roll on the table for the mark you have, if you don't have a mark you can roll on any table. This sort of represents the first step taken by that Chaos Hero down the path to worshiping a specific god.
