Subject: Storm Bringers: What do you guys think?

Neophyte Undergoing Surgeries

Hey guys. New to Warhammer 40000. After playing a couple of games with my friend using the Dark Vengeance starter set, I decided I would the Space Marines in the set to my own chapter. I'm going to share my ideas here so I can get your opinions/criticisms on my chapter, and you can call me out if I unintentionally copied someone's idea or I if I broke away from 40k canon. So, without further ado (that's how you say it right? ), here is the fluff:
Chapter Name: The Storm Bringers
Founding: 23rd Founding
Primarch: Roboute Guilliman
Tactics:
-Codex Astartes tactics
-Artillery strikes followed by a Assault Squads flying towards the battered forces
-Tactical and/or Devastator Squads fighting the enemy then Drop Pods drop within the enemy army, releasing Terminators
Home: Fleet-based
Backstory: A successor chapter of the Ultramarines, they were a Codex-compliant chapter prior to the destruction of their homeworld, its name now lost to history. An Ork Warlord and it's klan attacked the Storm Bringer's world in an invasion that would have lead to a WAAAGH!! if it succeeded. The invading Orks were so numerous, they were making planetfall in hours, striking numerous cities on the planet. Codex Astartes tactics and strategies weren't enough to hold back the green horde. The planet's forces were forced to move back to the world's capital, which houses the Fortress-Monastery of the Storm Bringers, within months. After holding out for more than a year, Inquisition forces finally made it into the system. Unfortunately, after communicating with the leader of the relief force, it is revealed that the Inquisition deemed it necessary to perform an Exterminatus on the planet, stressing the need to stop the soon-to-be WAAAGH!! The Astartes on the planet immediately prioritized the evacuation of Imperial citizens while they and the PDF held the line against the Orks. New strategies were employed to further delay the Orks. Assault Squads performed suicide jumps and Terminators teleporting into Ork forces, trying to disorganize the Orks while surviving artillery vehicles bombarded the farther ranks of the greenskins. Tactical and Devastator Squads rained fire from the opened ramps of Stormraven Gunships after more Assault Squads and the Chapter Master jumped into the fray. Finally, the evacuation was complete, and it was the military's turn to fly to safety. Once reaching the Inquisition's forces, the Exterminatus began, and the Storm Bringers' hearts broke at the sight of their world being devastated by the Inquisition's mighty power. It wasn't until a few days later did the news of a brave company of the PDF sacrificing themselves to evacuate everyone (including the Space Marines) reach the Storm Bringer's Chapter Master's ears. Flying into a rage uncommon amongst the blood of Guilliman, he locked himself inside his room and fasted for thirty days. Afterwards, he gathered the survivng Astartes and together, they vowed to never fail humanity again. They gathered all battlefield reports and intel, all the strategies that they employed and compiled them with their favored tactics from the Codex Astartes and formed their own book of war; the "Scriptum Tempesta." To this day, the Chapter continues to adhere to the Scriptum Tempesta in the defense of humanity, and has always brought the storm to those who seek to destroy it.
Battle Cry: "Like thunder, we march! Like lightning, we strike! WE BRING THE STORM!!"
Sorry for the long backstory. I got carried away XD what do you guys think?

It's definitely solid, I like the concept an where your going with it. (Escpecially the Warcry)
Maybe include some named people, approximation of forces, their color scheme.
I think if you took this and elaborated on it and made it more in depth it would be amazing.
Very good though, keep it up!

Very nice. Although the Ultramarines will not approve of your divergence from the Codex.

TheEyeOfNight- I swear, this thread is 70% smack talk, 20% RP organization, and 10% butt jokes
TheEyeOfNight- "Ordo Xenos reports that the Necrons have attained democracy, kamikaze tendencies, and nuclear fission. It's all tits up, sir."
Space Marine flyers are shaped for the greatest possible air resistance so that the air may never defeat the SPACE MARINES!
Sternguard though, those guys are all about kicking ass. They'd chew bubble gum as well, but bubble gum is heretical. Only tau chew gum

The Color Scheme is basically my profile picture. The color of their weapons is red, to symbolize the blood of the PDF company that sacrificed themselves to get everyone off-world (tell me if it sounds good or bad, I am still working on it). Does someone already have that color scheme? Or is there an existing Chapter (canon) that has it? I try my best to be as original as possible.
As for notable characters, I am still thinking of a few. So far, all I could come up with is the current Chapter Master, Caius Aurelius, who has led the Chapter for about a hundred years. He is known for joining his Assault Marines in their "lightning strikes" deep inside the enemy forces, whether with a jetpack, drop pod, or just jumping off of a strafing Stormraven (too much?). I'll think of more soon and post them here.
Their forces number exactly 1,000, one of the rules of the Codex Astartes that they kept in the Scriptum Tempesta. They have more Assault Squads and Whirlwinds than most chapters. As for other vehicles, I guess they have an average amount.
As for their divergence from the Codex, it kind of expresses my opinion about the Ultramarines' die hard adherence to the Codex. I love the Ultramarines, but the "Codex is our Bible" thing is not my style. Its more of like a guide which, according to what I read in the wiki, is what Guilliman wanted the codex to be

Just a friendly tip, Terminators deep strike using teleporters and not drop pods.
Also do your chapter have any notebal foes outside of Orks? In addition praise for daring not to make a codex enslaved chapter.

Thanks for the reminder and the praise XD
They dont really have any other notable foes (aside from Chaos of course). They fight the Imperium's enemies with as much hatred as other chapters, but they hate Orks the most. I'll try to come up with more fluff about them soon.

Np always nice to help a fellow authour out, well that sounds nice. Orks always makes for good arch enemies beside the regular spikey marines or sneaky Inqusitors. Will be looking forwards to this

Now that you mention the Inquisitors, they do have a small grudge against the Inquisition. They did destory their homeworld. But thet don't hate it as much as the Space Wolves though. While the Space Wolves saw no reason Inquisition's desicion to mindwipe (I think. I don't recall much from the First War for Armageddon) every surviving Guardsmen just because of risk foe Chaos taint and knowing the existence of Chaos, the Storm Bringers knew full well what the consequences would be if the Orks succeeded in their initial step to their WAAGH!

Also I may suggest making their legs or helmet or army's a differnt color. I have my own chapter with yellow stripe on helmet and people still think they ultra marines. So just thought for table top. I like what you've got.

Exactly what I was worried about. I have thought about, and in the end, I have decided to keep it that way since they are a successor chapter to the Ultramarines, and that the Ultramarines also have other successor chapters with the blue in the color scheme. Thanks for the advice. I might change my mind about their colors.
