So, I was wondring if Breacher Teams, And Strike Teams with Pulse Carbines where worth using? Can they be made to work? I normaly use 3 units of Strike Teams with Pulse Rifles and 2 units of Kroot as the troops in my army..

Pretty sure it was posted that the top ranking Tau player at LVO (rank 12), had a CAD with an ethereal and breacher teams

I'm pretty sure this was only viable by merit of them also being in Devilfish, likely with disruption pods as well. So as originally thought, Breachers might be viable with Devilfish.

Pulse Carbines are decently good if your planning on playing a mechanized Tau army as the ability to pin the enemy is useful and the extra 3 inches of getting 2 shots is nice vs the pulse rifle. Breachers are something I'm not really sold on as they are incredibly limited in their effective range. They are 100% dependent on a Devilfish and its not even hard to charge them from outside their AP3 shooting range. In general if I want to defeat 3+ armor then I'm going to be looking at either plasma guns on Crisis Suits or Ion from a Hammerhead/Riptide. Now on a board with lots of LoS blocking or something like Zone Mortalis then Breachers would be definitely worth taking. On foot though its 100% Pulse Rifles all day every day.

The 12th place Tau list in the LVO (top placing Tau) ran two 5 man squads of Breachers in Devilfish with SMS but not disruption pods, and an Ethereal. That being said, how much that contributed to his high record is hard to say, as it's a rather small portion of the army, though he did consider it a valid option to invest more than the minimum into, which shows their potential.

When I get home I'll have to see if there are any oddities with the Space Marine and Necron lists outside that Praetorians and Monolith one.

There were a lot of interesting things to say the least, one of the Renegade lists was allied with Necrons for example.
26th place was Space Marine stuff allied with Astra Militarium which was interesting.
Adepta Sororitas player in the top 50 was mislabeled, he was actually Salamanders D:

All the Tau lists look really different, everything from formations only, to CADs, to FSE.

A potent list. I run something similar here on occasion and I'm undefeated with it. Granted I can't get to any local tournaments or I would have been testing it.
Except I would try my best to fit in Ghostkeel Wing and take out the broadsides.
