Right, so the local hobby store has kind of always had Warhammer, mostly 40K but it has never really ever, ever, EVER sold well. I was the only person buying their White Dwarves for a while. Now, really the only Warhammer boxes they have there are Eternal Guard/Wildwood Rangers and the Sisters of the Thorn. I feel really bad for the Wood Elves boxes being all alone there and have wanted to try them out. However I have built the Stormcast from the starter box and am looking to expand with allies.

Primarily looking to add the Shadowstrike formation with so many sneaky skinks and javelins but I wonder if these two model boxes would add something to my current Stormcast group. Any thoughts?

I think wood elves would be a great addition to Stormcast, both army-wise and aesthetically. Sisters of the Thorn would give you some magic too, which is missing in the Stormcast list. Those and Eternal Guard would add some speed and maneuverability to your list.

They'd make a great addition to the force. A band of nomadic wanderers the Stormcasts encounter in a great forest - and a tenuous alliance is formed on common interests.

You could make a cool scenario where the Aelfs eventually betray the Stormcast, leading them into the thickest fighting against the enemy without any support... If the Stormcast survive, there might be a few Aelfs with answers to give.

Anyway, sounds great!

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

But which would be better the Eternal Guard or Rangers? Stormcast already have the staying power so I think the Ranger Monster-Killing would be useful.

I say the Wildwood Rangers. The Eternal Guard are only better if they're stood still and in cover...

Otherwise the Rangers do double attacks, that hit better, wound better, have -1 rend, and make great monster hunters as they do D3 damage to monsters.
