if i take a formation for my army but am low on points in order to add to it i need to take a detachment or another formation is that correct? thanks zork.

Your question is - you take one or more formations and are not to your points limit. What can you add to expand?

Within a battleforged army your choices are:

Add to units within the formation if permitted (e.g. if the formation contains a unit of variable size you could add additional models to that unit. Some formations permit a variable number of units, you could add additional units)

Add one or more additional formations.

Add one or more detachments.
