About a year ago I got an introduction into wargaming. it was warhammer fantasy battles.
I loved the concept but not the style so i went looking for alternatives. After going through a boatload of posts I settled on 3 possible candidates, dystopian wars, warmachine or 40k.
I went looking into 40k first but soon found out the game becomes verry expensive verry fast and my painting on small models is hardly something to look at. ( made a few posts about tau but after the recent codex changes i don't really want to give it a try again just because of the cost for the paper )
I also baught the starter box for convergence.
I really like the size and the rules are clear and well written.
The fluff for convergence is nice as well and although people don't like the way PP is dealing with the minor faction I don't really have a gripe with it.
But now a year later i'm still looking for a place to actually play the game. The store where I bought the box is over an hour drive and getting a parking spot can take up to 45 mins as well so not really reachable, plus they are the only physical store in the area and even though they advertise with a large asortment of warmachine items the last 3 times the place was almost empty. ( I don't know how the rules are regarding store names and I by no means want to say the store i'm talking about is bad I just don't have the best expirience with it , the store is located in hasselt )
Dystopian wars although I really like the setting is most likely not doable because I can't find any place that plays or sells the game within 100km.
So now after looking far and wide I hope to find a club or another store that hosts warmachine. (or in case wonders happen dystopian wars )
