Alright so the tyrant rules are just too juicy to dismiss.
Any barrage weapon within 12" can fire and have the template cover friendly models to include those locket in combat.
He also moves several artillery units to elite choices and makes field artillery battery's non compulsory troop choices. Yes OBSEC artillery.
HQ:
Renegade command squad (Covenant of nurgle, command vox, Ordnance Tyrant)
Elite:
Wyvern
Wyvern
Wyvern
Troops:
50 Plague Zombies (4+ FnP)
5 Renegade Veterans (Shotguns, Deepstrike, Flamer)
4 Quad launchers 20 Crew
4 Heavy Mortars 20 Crew
4 Heavy Mortars 20 Crew
Heavy Support:
3 Rapier Laser Destroyer 12 Crew
3 Rapier Laser Destroyer 12 Crew
3 Rapier Laser Destroyer 12 Crew
Fortification:
Void Shield Generator (3 total shields)
Allied Detachment:
Tzeentch Herald on Disk (Exalted Reward)
Tzeentch Herald on Disk (Exalted Reward)
10 Pink Horrors
10 Pink Horrors
9 Screamers of Tzeentch
Total Pts: 1849
If you haven't already formulated what I am going for here then I will explain. The screamer star is purely defensive in nature. I boost the screamer star up and then charge it into combat.... then the tyrant goes to work bombarding the screamers and anything/everything they are fighting. In the event that something makes it pass the screamerstar then I have 50 plague zombies to take on the next combat and repeat the process. The list is built around blocking any and all enemy advances with a wall of anti-infantry artillery shells. I'm playing with the idea of adding in some artillery carriages with either breacher shells or earthshaker shells for some more punch.... only issue is those shots can double out my tanks. Could this list put guard back on the radar or am I still dreaming?

Hi there,
I think I'd drop the veteran squad (I don't see it's purpose) to have 2x35 zombie squads instead of 1x50. More flexibility, more zombies.
Quad launchers are really good, but a unit of 4 might be overkill and risky: if you miss by far with the first template, the 15 others will be wasted. 2x2 seems optimal (though you have to pay militia training twice).
I'm not sure the screamstar is a cost-efficient wall in an army that can have plague zombies at 3pts per model (the best tarpit unit in the game imo). With divination, you could give your zombies a 4++, which I would say makes them more resilient in the end (considering the amount of body). So I'd drop the disks. The screamers could be used to grab objective though.
Using daemons, seekers of slaahesh could be interesting as they are cheap and fast (you can truly pick any target by turn 2), though they are less resilient.
What do you mean by '12 crew' ? Rapier destroyers, unfortunately, can't have that many crewmen.

I miscalculated the crew... only 6 total crew counting the additional models.
The Plague Zombies in the Vraks book our 0-1 only.
The veterans fill my mandatory troop slots as the artillery models do not count towards my minimum required. Alas the vets are a deepstriking obsec unit for cheap.
The screamerstar is a wall but they are also a deep range threat that the army lacks... their mobility makes up for the rest of the armies lack of mobility.
You make a good point on the artillery... i could split them up but I lose durability in exchange for more targets... I could cast prescience on the quad launcher squad to aid in it hitting the target.

You are correct... for some reason i thought they started with 3 crew each...

Having your warlord with covenant of nurgle allows unlimited zombies selections. Also, looks at the purge detachment instead of a cad.
I like your idea, I have something similar I'm painting 150 zombies up for.

I believe both siege of Vraks and IA 13 say that: When you take an arch demagogue with the covenant of nurgle, you open up 0-1 troops choice of zombies, or plague drones. OP has it right. (I'm not looking at the books right now so I am paraphrasing. Recently looked this up when it was brought to my attention though.)

The issue with the detachments is the lack of OBSEC... not sure why they decided to leave that important special rule out of both detachments.

That is almost verbatim from the VRAKS book. In IA 13 it is unlimited but you loose out on the Tyrant in IA 13.

I interpret that as being you can only have 1 zombie unit as well.

(I'm pretty sure you can't post a picture like that.)
I am looking at the books right now.
«Imperial armour 13» has the 0-1 restriction, like shown in the picture.
«Imperial armour Siege of Vraks», though, has no such restriction on zombie units when taking a nurgle convenant (the rule is not the same in that Imperial armour). It even says that your army can have «plague units as troop choices», that means even in another detachment than the one containing the demagogue.
The only reasons to take the list from «Imperial armour 13» imo is to have slaanesh or tzeentch covenant (but you can live without it) and the chaos sigil, which is better than the one in «Siege of Vraks».
I still think zombies as troop choice is better than the veterans. For a deepstriking ObS unit, plaguebearers would do the job quite well, no?
I think you are right staying with a CAD, though you don't have that many troop choice, but ObS on fearless zombies is too good. The benefit of The Purge is marginal compared to ObS imo. In my own list, though, I combined both detachments.
As for the quad unit, your point is good, you could cast prescience on it.
You play heavy mortars, have you found they are more efficient in general than quad launchers? I haven't tried them.

This is correct. The Covenant of Nurgle entry in Siege of Vraks is worded differently. It only restricts you to 1 Blight Drone, but allows for multiple units of Plague Zombies. I'd say go for the 2 units if you have the models.

One more try at this, with the rules in front of me. Here they are verbatim, and this is my interpretation: Siege of Vraks: Covenant of Nurgle - The army may include 0-1 unit of blight drones as an Elite choice and Plague zombie units as troops choices. Oh wait, as I type that out I'm changing my mind. I was reading it since there is no period in there, it's 0-1 for both. However the (s) on the end of units, and choices. Changes my interpretation. Take separate units of zombies OP. Dividing them up allows you to charge different targets. Save points on other un-necessary troop choices, and creates more targets for your opponent to fire at. I would probably go with 15/15/20 myself if you want to keep the same number of models. My only concern with your list is mobility in reaching the other side of the field.

That is one tough list. I really like the idea of combining Screamers with the Tyrant. Some bat reps with this list would be great!
The one weakness I see could be MC-heavy Tau or similar. You don't have enough units to tie all of them up, and they are tough to kill with AP4 or worse blasts.
You need the Heavy Mortars as back-up to the Rapiers in anti-tank. The 2-crew limit leaves Rapiers rather vulnerable However, I would replace the Field Artillery Mortars with Quad Launchers, and replace the 3 Wyvern with 5 Griffons (potentially in a single squadron for anti-invis or jink shenanigans). This should have even more damage potential, at the cost of the AP6, ignore cover that Wyverns bring.

Then its official vraks is better and nearly.every way. Really wish ia13 had some.unique detachments or anything to warrant its use.
Tzeentch does allow for some chaos.spawn spam though... not exactly game breaking though.

Honestly its just different. The IA13 sigil is great for basically ignoring shooting morale but is pretty useless when getting assaulted (since you'll probably have to take 2 morale checks as a result). Stubborn on the other hand is really good if you have a high LD because it basically means you just won't fail morale in close combat (especially with the 1 per game turn reroll if you did fail).

Hats a great point about close combat, because I think the chaos Sigil activates per game turn, not player turn. However I often wondered how effective it would be taking more than one chaos Sigil, then you can effectively use one at a time protecting yourself in all phases. Not very efficient though since they're using up special weapon slots in your infantry squads.
