I'll be facing a dark angel player soon who wants to test his tournament list.

he will be bringing a lot of bikes (mainly black knights) a landspeeder formation with some special rules and some other units.
will I be able to put up a fight with my list:

I would suggest finding some points for dark reapers if he is bringing a lot of bikes. They each get 2 S5 AP3 ignoring jink and rerolling to hit if they turbo boost, it will work wonders.

I personally find GWM and HF on Serpents redundant. Either you expect to play on a table with good cover to utilize or you'll be in the open where the invulnerable will player a better role; I'd trim you preference and use points elsewhere.

Eldar Missile Launchers have never impressed me. I feel the TL-Scatter combined with an underslung Cannon does some reasonable damage.

I would agree with the previous poster that Reapers (perhaps in an Aspect Host) would be appropriate, however you do have Serpent Shields and D-Flamers making it perhaps redundant. Cheers.

I run 6 dark reapers in my current list, and they completely obliterate all bikes that get near the table. I use them specifically for that role -- to clear squads of scat bikes and black knights. Trust me when I tell you, few things beat that look on the ravenwing player's face when you tell them "No, you don't get jink saves and it's AP3"



I also think that weapons on a wraithlord are not the best use of it's time. The weapons are optional, and you should be running that wraithlord every round so it can introduce someone to it's glaive. Cheap and nasty. That being said, a wraithknight is significantly more deadly than 2 wraithlords. If you can find a way to make that work instead, go for it!

I started Eldar last year so my collection isn't huge. I don't own any dark reapers, but will try to add them soon.
I didn't want to use a wraithknight for this battle, it never lets me down but I just wanted to try doing a battle without it.

before the battle I changed my mind a bit and didn't go for the wraithlord, but took an extra farseer skyrunner and three scatbikes, that did require me to take some upgrades of the wave serpents.

we played a tactical objective game, which ended in a draw, he cunningly started fleeing when he started to run out of bikes and I just couldn't catch him with my wraithgaurd and the scatbikes I had left just didn't do the damage I was hoping for.

we had fun though.

The ravenwing list with the landspeeder formation can be brutal. They get ridiculous saves against shooting as long as the speeders are alive, they have twin linked plasma shots on everything and they have rending attacks at charge.

Reapers will murder bikes (so you need to add them), and you can use your serpant shields to shoot down the speeders denying them their cover save. Also he might have a FNP save due to an apothecary or something so remember that he isn't getting a FNP from D weapons and scythes also ignore his cover save.

His list is tough but it lacks number. Also he is relying heavy on the speeder shenanigans since they provide a cover save. Pick it apart piece by piece and he will rethink his participation in the tournament .

All I can say about painting is that VMC tastes much better than VMA... especially black...

that's why I wanted to bring 3 waveserpents, but it didn't work out that way.
one serpent did oke and destroyed one of the speeders, but the for the other two I rolled double ones when determining shots, so they did nothing. I charged them with fire dragons and that did the trick.

How do you arm your Exarch for hunting bikes? It would seem reaper launcher would be best over the other two options as you are already ignoring cover and small blasts not likely to hit many bikes as they are so big so the tempest launcher isn't that good and the EML doesn't do anything extra that star shots do apart from skyfire

Reaper launcher (the reaper range finder actually) by itself doesn't ignore cover... but jink saves. You have to get rid of the speeders first. Other than that the exarch is fine with a reaper launcher which becomes heavy 3 in his hands.

Besides Dark Reapers i would look into warp spiders in an aspect host formation. The range and templates together with their flickerjump is very nice.

I just keep a reaper launcher on him. While it's tempting to buy him a EML with fast shot, I don't want to invest any more into the squad than I already have. At 165, It's not a problem if they get wiped. Any more than that, and too many points in a unit that, at the end of the day, is not that hard to remove from the board.

You really don't need 3 squads of reapers. That's a bit of overkill.
I field 3 squads of spiders, 2 squads of hawks, 1 squad of reapers for my aspect hosts.
