I would recommend the Rubicon version, the tracks and suspension components look a lot easier to assembled compared to the ill fitting halves tracks in the Warlord version. Really it depends on what theatre selector you want to use the tiger in, as Warlord's version is only designed for Q4 1943 onwards (and appears to have accuracy issues even for that period), whilst Rubicon provided parts to decipt the entire production run.

I would go with the Rubicon model,More options and also a newer start up Company.
I bought the Sherman kit from Rubic and i was rather happy with it. I do have the Warlord Italeri Tiget but i havent opened it up yet.

thanks guys!

I have recently bought the Heer winter units from bolt action. So I would be interested in Late war winter themed.

Does rhat help with the suggestion?

In regards to the type of tiger, at my LGS were pretty laid back in regards to the specifics. We mix late war and early war units. we just use whatever is in the book for the points etc... I could happily have early war units with a late war King Tiger. Really not bothered with the realism

thanks for the review link

I've built both Rubicon's and Warlord/Italeri's Tiger I...

The Rubicon kit is easier to assemble. The fit is good, and the detail is sharp. It has parts for the early, mid and late production versions. There are a few accuracy issues with all 3 versions (things like smoke dischargers and placement of tools and headlights), but nothing major; it's impressive how complete each version is. It's probably the mid production version which is the most accurate. The late production version should be coated in Zimmerit anti magnetic mine paste, so if you want it to be really accurate you'll need to replicate that. The design of the tracks is probably the issue that people either love or hate. I personally like them - they're robust, easy to assemble, and the outer wheels are separate. However, there is little detail on the track faces, so they look a bit plain from the front.

The Warlord/Italeri kit only depicts a late production version. It has the Zimmerit moulded on; it's reasonably convincing, but the pattern slopes downwards on the hulls side, which seems to be a mistake. Overall, the detail isn't as crisp as Rubicon's, especially around the engine deck, but it's okay. The tracks have to be assembled, so they have more detail than Rubicon's - but the wheels are solid. You need to be more careful with the assembly to get a proper fit, and some filling is required.

If you're modelling a late war Tiger I, then the Warlord kit is more accurate overall. However, the Rubicon kit is more enjoyable to build, and if you're not worried about the Zimmerit issue or the simplified tracks, I'd go with that one.
