Where are the WFB threads?
There is a whole bunch of sections for AOS which has been around for 5 mins and nowhere to talk about WFB which has been around for 25 years and 8 editions. Who's running this show?
Does anyone on this forum actually play Fantasy games?
I thought about starting a project log here ...but I can't find hardly any Fantasy threads ... Bloody round bases everywhere I look.

Hey Harry,

There's still a number of WHFB logs that get posted over in the P&M blogs section. Here's one that I've personally been enjoying myself:

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/0/666916.page

It's a little harder to say where to post topics about WHFB- I'd recommend either posting in the GW Specialists Games forum towards the bottom of the main page, or just say feth it and post in the AOS General Discussion section. Personally, I'd go with the later, since there isn't much interesting besides meta conversation going on down there anyway!

There are six sections related to fantasy underneath the 40k sections on the main page, I realise that the mods have labelled it all aos for some reason but there is plenty of WFB stuff going down in there as well.

If you check the descriptions under the AoS forum headers, they're quite clearly labelled as being for both.

However, modelling project logs would belong in the Painting and Modeling section.

Harry - Awesome to see you posting here! Hope you'll share some of your rumor nuggets with us, too

As for fantasy, with GW changing their current games to Warhammer: Age of Sigmar, we felt the sections here needed to follow suit. But as insaniak said, you are absolutely welcome to talk about anything related to warhammer fantasy in that section - legacy, current ruleset, etc!

The naming puts me off a bit too, to be honest - but I feel that's more GW's doing. If you do have any suggestions let us know... right now, most discussion in the sections is AoS-focused, but I'd love to see a bit of just general WHFB discussion resurgence! I have a feeling a lot of fantasy-focused forums are wrestling with this at the moment... but that's the spot GW's put us in, nothing to do but embrace the chaos

Off topic, welcome to Dakka. It can be a bit confusing at first to have a wargaming forum where you don't get banned for critising GW, but I'm you enjoy it a lot here after you get over that.

On topic, the mods really just renamed the WHFB section. AOS seems to be more talked about being the new flashy thing but discussions about 1-8th edition WHFB or 9th age is still allowed in the renamed sub-forums.

I missed the project log part, but the Painting & Modeling Blogs section is perfect for that!

http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/forums/show/56.page

There are some fantasy projects in there, although many have round bases now, 'tis true

I'm just about to have a large chaos dwarf army worked on, and they're going on multi-bases to use in Kings of War... again, nothing much to do but embrace the chaos for the moment, imo!

Thanks for the replies fellas. It wasn't a very serious post ... I was just kicking the cage.

Folks keep welcoming me here ... I joined years ago ... just don't post much.

That is a great thread .... well worth the price of entry. Thanks for pointing me to that one.

I thought we banned WHFB discussions since our advertisers have no interest in seeing us support a dead game?

I'm pretty sure most of the Fantasy discussion now goes on in the Mantic subforum.

Since that whole section already has the heading "Warhammer Fantasy", and each board has a full description, then including AOS in every title is actually kind of redundant. Though, if we like redundancy then it wouldn't exactly break the tables to just change it something like "AoS/WHFB Tactics"... or just anything that actually described what it was, instead of alienating WHFB players.

An excellent point.

And this is WHY most of us do our WFB discussions on OTHER BOARDS. This type of thing pops up EVERY SINGLE TIME we try to discuss WFB.

Yes, GW blew up WFB. Paramount also canceled Star Trek TOS fifty years ago and there are STILL people who enjoy discussing it. Just because something is no longer officially supported doesn't mean everyone instantly loses interest in it.

I am pretty sure that the grumbling is kind of the opposite of people losing interest in the older WHFB.

We are annoyed, not apathetic.
