Subject: Cheap way to make some Mega Armored Nobz?

I came into a cheap Ghazzy and really want to run the Bullyboyz formation, but there's no way I can afford all of those MANz (it's 76 bucks for three!) Is there any cheap and/or easy ways to make them en-masse with existing citadel models? At this rate I think it might actually be cheaper to just buy Killa Kanz and use their bitz for MANz instead.

Here ya go. You'll have some good looking Meganobz, but you might go insane first fiddling with all the tiny bitz.

It's an awesome article but I don't have readily access to plasticard and tubing :/ Anything that can be done with other GW parts?

Money or time - take your pick. But if you have more time than money, and want to develop your plasicard skills, this could be a great project.
I've some some mega armor conversions, and it is fun, but doing it 15 times would be a bit tiresome. You'd probably be really good at it by the end!
I've seen some terminator > meganobz conversions, but I'd recommend against it. They're a bit too small.

Amazon's a beautiful thing! With these two, you'd have enough card and tube to make 20+ meganobz, if you wanted.

I've made an Ork Power Klaw from sprues before, so time and effort are definitely not deterrants. But the cost of plasticard and shipping to where I live is basically the same as just straight up buying MANz from GW. :/
I will check out those for potential titan projects though. For now I might try to jery-rig a set of mega-armor out of sprues again.

I wouldn't mind seeing the result of that, honestly.
But I think you're going to have a hard time - sprues are too thick to really work well, I'd think. Might make some kind of frame and then glue sprues onto it like a picket fence, but I'd think plasticard would work out much better in the end.
Does amazon not ship to canada, though?

Amazon ships to Canada but the post office near me is ass. I often need to run two towns over just to get my packages. That's not including getting the base Nobz to work with, which is also gonna run me up a fair amount.
This was the result of the power klaw though, so I think I might have a chance at this if I cut my sprues correctly. I never back down from a challenge, especially when I can be cheap about it

That's not too shabby at all! Might have some luck, but I would still recommend plasticard for any ork modeler as an all-purpose tool
good luck on the 5x5 Rubik's cube. I never could get mine - though I got close. Got it down to two mismatched corner pieces, everything else solved, a couple times, but never could swap the two.

oh that was taken years ago (literally! check the upload date). The Cube has been fixed. With a hammer and some glue.
I might still need to get the tubes though. Looking at ghazzy there's only so much I can go on sprue shavings :/

if you can create that using sprues, I think you'll be fine I'm looking at a similar conversion project (I have way too many nobz), so I'll be following this project with interest (and perhaps even joining you?)

I built the guy in the middle as a cheap-as-free meganob out of a AoBR body, some bitz, some junk and some milliput.
The sticks here are broken kebab sticks, I just took one from the kitchen, you could probably buy a corn dog eat it and then wash it to get one. A couple of globs of putty over them make them look like pistony bits. The plastic bit over his butt is a piece broken off of either a bottle lid or a bucket. Smack some bits of waste plastic with a hammer (or jump on them while wearing sturdy boots) and they'll turn into irregularly shaped armour fragments. (Be careful not to puncture yourself with flying plastic)
That card isn't plasticard it's some stiff card that I accidentally bought on ebay instead of plasticard. If you want a cheap-as-free alternative you could probably cut up some trading cards, like the Star Wars ones they put out just recently you might be able to get them for free off of some friends or close to it from a charity shop. They're such small pieces on a model this size that it should be quite rigid. Between this picture and the next I stuffed the holes with miliput.
The rokkits are Sentinel rockets. You can probably trade them from Imperial Guard players at your FLGS quite easily. IG players aren't that fond of sentinels but they used to be in the battalion box set and missile launchers have been a bad choice on them so they'll probably swap them for cool bits like that Ork skull you get with your nobz. IG models look like proper vets when lording it over an Ork skull.
Looking back I wish I'd armoured up the legs a bit more but when I started I was going for Flash Git and ended up needing a third Meganob.
Oh, also for a cheap as free solution to your tubing you can get a nice bit of plastic tubing from inside a detergent spray or a liquid soap once it is finished. If you're not close to finishing one you could ask at a local fast food store if you can have the empties. Those gitz are always cleaning stuff (hopefully) so they go through them.

If you don't have access to plasticard sheets and rods, you could try card and cocktail/kebab sticks. Cut a small length of cocktail stick with kebab stick either side will look nicely like a piston. Small sections of these sticks could be used as rivets. Card could be used to construct an armoured body (I suggest painting both sides and the edges of the card with varnish or pva glue to seal it and stop it from splitting).
It may be worth buying a box of mega armour and then spreading the spares (helmeted heads, iron gobs, arms, etc) out over the more heavily armoured regular nobz. You could probably make decent enough power packs for the nobs using shooters for worky bits and shooter barrels for exhaust pipes. IIRC lots of ork kits come with spare armour plates you could use to bulk up your nobz too.
I hope these ideas help.

the kebab stick is a nice touch, never thought of it myself. However I wanna ask if the woodgrain shows up or not.
As for heads and stuff, I won a GW raffle a long time ago and got some black orcs that were only partially assembled. I was considering using the spare heads as Meganobz heads, with the banner pole head being the boss nob.

The woodgrain can be seen a bit if you hold it up to your face and look at it, or if you take a picture with a nice camera and it is focused on it. You won't spot it on the table top.
I tried using those ear swab things once as tubing. I didn't have much fun working with them but they don't have any woodgrain on them by virtue of being plastic. (Almost forgot, that sprue claw looks really good.)

cocktail/kebab sticks are great ideas for tubing! I guess you can easily enough limit the effect of the wood grain by daubing them in some PVA first and letting it dry.
If its a pain to get plasti-card don't fret. Just go to your local coffee/clothes/anything shops and ask for their loyalty card. In the UK they are handed out all the time in exchange for an email address and your name. Then use the card as plasticard. Some are better than others but it works alright.

I just realized that the Black Orcs are fairly heavy-armored. Would it be possible to turn them into Mega-Armored nobz?
I can make up some klaws and source some shoota bitz from other places.

I think they'd look fantastic as meganobz! the armour looks bulky enough, and you could add bits to it fairly easily.

Does anyone have a meganob for a size comparison with a Black Orc? I wanna know if the size matches up roughly or if the black orc is smaller (From eyeballing it, it looks like the black orc might be a bit smaller)
