Well, to start off it's illegal.

For one thing, the warboss of the green tide formation comes out of the waaagh! ghaz book, which means he is limited only to waaagh! ghaz relics, which doesn't include DLS.

That being said, the big bosspole (fearless) is a MUST-TAKE ghaz relic for that warboss. Also means you don't have to bother with normal bosspoles, generally. One is a nice backup.

Then, you're going to need 2x troops choice to bring a CAD for all your other stuff, and you've only got one (grots). You can bring another warboss from that CAD with DLS if you want, but you'd have to drop an HQ or add a troop to take the ork horde detachment.

Other than that, I'd either swap the BW for a trukk if you're just going to put 12 models in it (or drop it altogether, lootas are usually happy in backfield cover).

I like kustom mega kannons. Tankbustas too.

Green tides are kinda fun, but I'm not sure I'd recommend a completely bare-bones one. it's not that hard to kill only 100 boyz. I also wouldn't recommend shootas, as the green tide will be running and waaaaghing almost every turn.

Hmmm would it be better to take warband?

What do you mean by warband? The formation of, like, 6 boyz, nobz, and grots, or the ork horde detachment that lets you take 3 HQs and 3 troops base?

He can just claim to be playing unbound. However the relic for the warboss does have to be selected properly and the fearless bosspole is def the way to go.

Attach a painboy to that unit and you are set

1. Tyranids - 15,000 pts
2. Chaos Space Marines - 7,100 pts
3. Space Marines - 6,000 pts
4. Orks - 5,900 pts
5. Dark Angels - 4,300 pts
6. Necrons - 4,600 pts
7. Grey Knights - 3,200 pts
8. Eldar - 3,400 pts
9. Blood Angels - 3,200 pts
10. Chaos Daemons - 3,200 pts
11. Tau Empire - 3,000 pts
12. Space Wolves - 2,400 pts

I'd definitely rate one big squad of boyz (green tide) being stronger than a bunch of small ones (horde formation).

Green tide hurts you in objective based games, but is easily buffable with things like FNP, DLS, big bosspole, etc.

Horde formation isn't that noteworthy, honestly. Not much different than just taking 6 normal groups of boyz and some nobz.

I like this formation quite a bit - especially if you manage to roll a 1 on the Warlord Traits table and get Prophet of the Waaagh! result. Calling a Waaagh every turn after the first AND fearless for the whole formation? Hells yes!

"Sir, the enemy has us encircled!"

"Most excellent. They can't escape us now!"

My main problem is that the green tide formation has been fun in small games but now I'm playing it in a large game I don't have enough orks. For orks an Ork green tide to work as it should in 2000pts I need a lot more orks maybe 200-300. I'm not sure I can be bothered with that so I think I may try a different kind of list... I need more battle wagons.
