Hey Dakka, I like what GW did with the Khorne Daemonkin book, and I really like the whole fire and magic/warp stuff theme. So I know some (Okay, a lot) of units are not very good, but I'm going to make them better. I'm not expecting for this catch on, this is just for fun. I'm planning to make this kind Imagine that GW makes a Tzeentch Daemonkin book. What would Dakka like to see? What units would you improve? What formations would you have? What would you add?

I'm interested to see your thoughts and suggestions for this

Auto-cast spells/psychic powers.

I mean c'mon. They're the followers of the god of MAGIC. How the hell do they still need to harness warp powers? (yes I know there's an in-universe explanation but still, why does it need an explanation!?)

That and the Gift of Chaos Power back, where you can turn an enemy into a gribblie spawn.

Three versions of the Lord of Change, kind of like we got three Bloodthirsters. Also, perhaps a unique psychic discipline different from the Tzeentch ones that CSM and Chaos Daemons have.

One thing I would expect is that if they follow the pattern of Khorne Daemonkin, Warp Talons will actually be good in Tzeentch Daemonkin. They will have a 3+ armor save, a 4+ invulnerable save (thanks to Mark of Tzeentch) and get to reroll 1's on those saves (Daemon of Tzeentch). People might actually take them as something other than a Heldrake tax.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/7/24, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~16000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Imperial Knights: ~2300 | Leagues of Votann: ~1300 | Tyranids: ~3400 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000 | Kruleboyz: ~3500 | Lumineth Realm-Lords: ~700

Are Warp Talons counted as Daemon of Khorne in KDK? Cuz I think they're still counted as CSM just with the Daemon rule.

If they do that though, it does go a fair way to make Warp talons not-useless.

They are indeed Daemon of Khorne in the KDK book. Which means that if they do not get killed on the turn they drop in, they will kill the everloving gak out of anything they can charge that doesn't have a 2+ armor save. Rage + Furious Charge + Shred from the Claws = MURDER!

I think being able to deny blessings from divination and telepathy on a 5+ would be interesting.

Forcing rerolls of feel no pain could be cool.

Maybe deep strike that is a bit more reliable.

Oh and an Oblitorators formation.

Okay so this is what I'm getting so far:

Lord of Change variants (LoC, Lord of Fate, Lord of Warpfire(?))

Making Tzeentch the Alpha Legion of warp fethery

Better Warp Talons (Better Deep Striking, better invuln from shooting on turn they enter in this manner, more durability)

Better Deep strike (models with the X special rule subtract D3" from their Deep Strike scatter)

Obliterator formation (Everchanging destruction: obliterators in this formation may pick 2 weapons per shooting phase but may not pick either the next shooting phase?)

Thousand Sons to drop to 18 points per model, including the Sorcerer.
180 pts is about right for a crippled tactical squad with a minor ranged damage boost against some units and a special weapon that requires warpcharge and can kill you.
