I'm currently working on a Dark Mechanicum army and was wondering if the new book would be a worthwhile investment if I was only really planning on running Daemons as allies? Would I be better off just using the Codex? Or would it be best to just take a pass on Daemons in favor of my original ideas of AM painted as renegades and CSM? I should also mention that AdMech and Chaos are my favorite factions, so I'm as likely to run pure CSM or CSM w/Daemon allies as I am to run my full Dark Mechanicum plan.

CSM w/ Guard Allies can be very powerful, as the Guard can be bring a lot of the long range punch CSM lack. CSM w/Daemons and Guard w/ Daemons are also very strong, especially w/ Belakor flying around, throwing Invisibility on everything and causing shenanigans.

Don't get the new Daemons book, at least not yet. It's a supplement to the codex, meaning A) you'll still need the original codex and B) the stuff in there really only works well if you run a Daemons only army, as some of the formations get pretty pricey.

I'd say pick a main army you want to run, then google some lists and see what's out there you need to Ally in. Is it firepower, AA, some melee punch, Psykers, etc.?
