I don't want to get my hopes up that my most hated rule in the game might have been fixed, but... Am I reading this right? Sweeping Advance stipulates that models are "removed as casualties" with no saves of any kind, and reanimation protocols states that it applies even against abilities that allow no saves. Are my I2 Necrons FINALLY given a fighting chance?

Removed as casualties is not the same thing as taking an unsaved wound, so no, you don't get RP.

Reread 'Sweeping Advance', because you skipped over the most important part. From 'Sweeping Advance' on page 53 of the main rulebook (emphasis added):

Unless otherwise specified, no save or other special rule can rescue the unit at this stage...

'Reanimation Protocols' would be covered as it is an "... other special rule..."

defeat. It would seem that stupidity is as eternal as war.'

Much like Feel No Pain, Reanimation Protocols only triggers off of an unsaved Wound. Being Removed as a casualty without an allocated Wound does not trigger the requirement of Reanimation Protocols.

Now, Reanimation Protocols in their current version makes it harder for the Sweeping Advance to occur in the first place because it triggers before the Fight Sub-Phase is ended, whereas before it happened at the end of the Phase after the Fight Sub-Phase ends and after Sweeping Advance occurs.

So, yeah, they have a fighting chance. Much more than Tau Fire Warriors or Ork Boyz, at any rate.

Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound?
