Greeting,
Finally getting back into 40k w/ a sweet Ork lot I picked up for a $100. Looking for advice on how to go about building an effective list and how to best run them. Never played with or against orks when I played in 5th edition. Looking to stay mostly on foot w/ a few fast flanking elements.
Waiting on codex and Rulebook in the mail.

Lot included:
Warboss
BigMek w/ShockAtckGun
68 Choppa Boyz
10 Boyz H.Weapons(4Flamers,5BigShootas,1Rocket)
5 Nobz
8 Lootas,1Mek
8 Stormboyz
6 DeffKoptas

And advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated especially on what to look out for in 7th edition.

Those Deffkoptas will see a lot of use. Very good unit.

All that for $100 is a great deal. Thats so damn good you just have to buy it! Hell even if you dont like em you could easily make your money back through resale.

The original plan was resale but decided it was too good a lot not to try.

What formation/detachment is preferred the Warband or Horde? Is wrapping my head around how list as assembled nowa days.

Well I would strongly suggest getting gretchin. Great unit all things considered.

You could put together a nice little ork horde if you wanted.

Acquiring one squad of grotzwould get you everything you need to run the basic WAAAaGH! Band from the new Ghaz suppliment. Then you could just start filling in auxiliaries you wanted

I am the kinda ork that takes his own washing machine apart, puts new bearings in it, then puts it back together, and it still works.

If you want to footslog stormboyz can be used to flank and keep to the theme.

My Armies:
Orks about 15000-16000 mostly unpainted but slowly being worked on
Militarum Tempestus about 2000 points just built
Inquisition about 2000 points unpainted
Officio Assassinorum 570 unpainted
I dont paint quickly

seconded for one unit of grots - the defcoptas make good flanking units too.

Send them in units of one to take side shots on vehicles, then send them in as chaff units to absorb overwatch.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

A unit of Grotz will unlock perma-Waargh which this list will REALLY REALLY NEED.

You should also buy a truck and three Meganobz, because you need a unit of Nobz/Meganobz to finish the formation. Though you could use the nobz you have as a unit, though doing so means no bosspoles for your slugga boys.

It looks to me like you have multiple Black Reach sets as your core. Are your nobz just basic slugga nobz? If so you need to convert them to klaw nobz to lead your boyz. Klaws can be bought from bitz sites at reasonable prices.

Units of slugga nobz are really ugly priced and not recommended. That being said if its needed to unlock the formation taking three slugga nobz for 54pts might be the thing you need to do.

You can stop there and work out what else you want afterwards. You have the core of an ork footslogger horde and from there can add just about anything. Get some games in with the above, then decide.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

With all those slugga boyz, I'd give some of them a trukk to ride in.
