ok so i think its time i made one of these blogs, to hopfuly help motivate me and keep me focused.

Right now I've started working on a 6mm 1980's Russian force for the game Saber Squadron, though when i do get an airbrush I'll probably head back and finish my chaos space marines(or start my nids) which will be a mix of iron warriors and emperors children. I actually have the compressor my logic at the time was i could only afford one a week and the compressor would take the longest to get to me, then some sudden bills and a temporary loss of shifts meant i wasn't able to get the airbrush, fingers crossed for march. >.>

So back to the Russians I'm using Heroics & Ros miniatures and am aiming for a infantry and a tank battalion, will go into more details in a spoiler so people to make it look less woty.
Why i went with H&R

What i have now and what I'm thinking of getting next.


Right now i have just glued the weapons teams to their bases still need to build them up around their bases.(baseception)
I do plan to do the vehicles base coat and camo with an airbrush but will be testing out the sceme on these trucks/ jeeps with a standard brush to see if my plan will work.(which is using vallejo's Russian green primer as the base coat and dry brushing with model colour camo olive green(which used to be called Russian green) which is a bit lighter.)
Also do need to get some better lighting for photos.(also i use the auto white balance on all but the first pic and it over did it a bit.)

Now for pictures heres a Forward observer team with a couple of uaz jeeps

A manpad team and a mortar.

Some weapons teams hard to see the guys in the photo though.(l-r LMG , ATGM and a automatic grenade launcher)

And heres a hot next to a gw paint pot for a size reference, and in hind sight i should have filed the bottem of his base before gluing him but you can't tell from a distance.

Update time, i would have done this sooner but my internet died so i have 2 updates.

And final a finished shot of them, do need better lighting as you can't even tell the windows are blue, i was thinking of doing some sort of highlight on them but they sare not going to a important part of the army, so i decided against it though i was thinking of doing some light likes around where the ribs of the canopys would be. do need to do something with the headlights though.


Also am about to make he next order.

So just got my second order in the mail today.
Best part is that the other infantry pack also has 3 lmg's which solves that problem.

Do need to re drill some of the holes for the turrets. also got an extra turret.

Primed the bottom of the T-72s just need to go buy something to blue tac them to to prime the rest, as i don't think i have enough paint pots(yet alone one i wont be needed.)

Shaping up nicely! Those T 72s look rather good in pictures, I haven't seen very many shots of H & R's stuff so much appreciated. The Hind looks like an absolute beast, always liked them!

The T-72's do look nice and were pretty easy to prep as there wasn't much in the way of flash.mold lines so just had to cut of a nub on the front of the left track and do a bit of filing.

H&R do need to get more pictures up on their site.

And i still need to figure out what to use as a flight stand for the hinds/su-25s do have some 3/32 steel rod i could use and just put a magnet in the bottom on the model, might be a bit thick but at least i wouldn't have to worry about broken or bent stands.

Currently working on a iron warriors vindicator for the paint comp once i get it done it'll be back to the cold war.





Still needs work and some of the hazard stripes are a bit wonky.

Nice to see the original model out and about! Coming along nicely.

I have a thing for the rt plastic tanks not sure why, though i think i have to draw the line at the fully plastic predator.
Though my trouble is that due to me only being able to get them second hand, they have all been built slightly differently.

Eventually ill get round to working on the predator which is in pretty bad shape.

Bit more progress and yes the storm bolter broke off, second time and in a different place, will be easier to paint with it off though.

I have that same vindicator in my SM army. I always thought it was a great model. I like the bullet holes in the armour, for example.

You going to do anything to the imperial eagle on the side? Deface it somewhat perhaps? Paint a chaos star over it?

It is a nice tank, need to get my self a third one though.

And that is a good question in hind site i should have just continued the hazard stripes all the way up that plate to cover the eagle, i think at the time i was thinking the eagle would make it to hard to mask even though it wouldn't have done anything. Will definitely do that for the next one, though i could probaly manage to redo it on this one.

Finished the vindicator.

Solved my lack of paint pots issue. Blu tac nails and polystyrene to hold them up.

I've pretty much finished the weapon teams, just need to add some sort of grass, and some helmets needs touch ups.

Skipped painting the hard to reach faces.





Think the light on the last one needed to be a bit more forward as i was trying to show off that I'd painted the ak stocks but like you can't even see it due to the shadow. >.>

Going to try a white primer on the next lot to see how it looks.

Ok so i got some Mantic skeletons, They are a heck of allot cheaper here than the gw ones,a and don't look bad built, its just building them that is annoying.
basically eight don't have their heads attached and not all of the heads will fit on all of the bodys due to the collars not getting along with the helmets plus theres only 9 heads so not much choice, not all bodys will fit right on all of the legs, though they would look fine from the front it's look bad from the rear, plus 6 of them can't be given spears which isn't that bad tbh.
Will definitely get more if i ever actually find someone to play with.


Also got some chaos characters, the thousand sons sorcerer from the upgrade pack, another sorcerer and the iron warrior war smith.

Forge world stuff arrived in the morning.

Ok so i managed to finished painting the warsmith, though unfortunately i didn't put anywhere near enough effort into removing flash and stuff, but it'll do. Will do the base later today.




There were a ton of thing s to help the casting of the thousand sons sorcerer that were in places i didn't expect so i'm going to need to go at him with a knife. would have been nice if i had noticed them before i got the first coat on.
And i decided to put the other sorcerer on hold as painting him will be to tedious.
Now i need to stop distracting my self with new projects and finish some of what I've started.

Ok so i decided i needed to actually get some stuff finished.

I finished priming the T-72s which i will hopfuly be ble to finish up tomorrow.

Got the first infantry company glued onto their bases.


And assembled the hinds, didn't put any rocket pods on them as it'd have probably made me rage.

Ok so i finally managed to get the first tank company done technically i finished 13 and a half tanks but its nicer to count in whole units.





God know what i will end up working on next. To make matters worse i now want to get a frost grave and this is not a test warbands going.
Might manage to get some redemptionists done as theres a zombie themed event coming up at the local gw and they will suit it nicely, have to build my Klovis a new tank for his exterminator then convert up some flagellants.

So i finaly got the T-72's finished didn't take much time, I just had a hard time trying find the motivation to start on them.


And in other news, I've build my self a Mordheim warband from perry plastics.
Left to right
Youngblood with spear shield, do need to take the shield arm off and repose it, only had left handed spears(banner poll really) which meant i had to use a weapon arm for it.
Youngblood with sword and knife.
Champion with halberd.
Captain with 2h sword, and yes it is tiny, think its just a bastard sword though, still bigger than the other swords.

Henchmen groups
Swordsmen with sword and shields and marksmen with longbows.

Really shoudl have gotten another sprue of bowmen for more bodys as think 10 is a bit on the small side.

So i made a goblin blood bowl team using a box of fanatics rivertrolls and night goblins.

The night goblins were a bit disappointing almost all of the bows off hands were holding quivers(not sure how that works) so there was and open hands(releasing arrows) which would have been nice, only managed to prime 2 trolls before i ran out of primer(airbrush is playing up so couldn't use that)

And i am working on some darklands stuff i got from a bag of miscasts.
First up is 2 models who were pretty much in perfect codition, and one of the heros who just was missing her sword.

Next is the bow version of the hero missing her feet, still need to do the other foot.

Lastly is some sort of dragon horse mount missing its tail bottom jaw and left leg plus some horns that i have something from another dragon that should work.

Alright so i have finished 2 of the trolls for the bb team, in hind site i should have painted the skin different shades, will do the 3rd one in a lighter shade.

OK so have got one of my hellblades ready to paint for the unofficial paint comp, it won out over a bunch of other possible entrys due to armys on parade coming up, and my chaos should be the easiers army to get enough ready in time, though i might enter my blood ravens depending on how easy it is to deal with their old paint jobs(and rebasing)

Finished the hellblade just in time for my holiday.







Though i just realised i haven't done the edge highlighting on the purple, not that there is much to do.

Started to build my darklands whitgar, one of the heads got bent in the post and snapped when i tried to bend it back, going to reposition it and give it a coif to make it stay in place while looking different.
