Building one to add to my existing artillery battery. Anyone used both before? pros and cons? I'm about to start assembling and needed some expert advice!

I dont have either, but is there anyway to magnetize it?

I have proxied a manticore several times and had mixed results. However I would always use a manticore over the deathstrike, an unreliable one shot for 160 points never seems worth it imo.

It is possible to magnetise, if you put magnets under the four missile rack and fill the gaps on the ICBM that is the Deathstrike.
Do note however that in 8 years there has never been a game in which i thought "man, i wish I had a Deathstrike instead of a Manticore"
And with the Formation the Manticore rocks even harder, Ignore Cover? Yes please...

You shouldn't be worried about the one bullet with your name on it, Boldric. You should be worried about the ones labelled "to whom it may concern"-from Blackadder goes Forth!

Neither are that great, but if I had to choose hiding a deathstrike in a corner of the board will make your opponents sweat a bit!

Aftermath can be calculated.

All great points. I may see if there is a way to magnetize - manticore seems like a all round better option - a nuke is fun too

If you're using it for the Emperor's Wrath Artillery Company formation, then Manticore all the way. Mainly because then you can issue the Ignores Cover order to it - S10 Ignores Cover Large Blasts are pretty decent, even if they are only AP4.

More shots compared to one shot will always win in my book, especially since the Deathstrikes one shot is not an assured thing.

19th Krieg Siege Army 7500pts.
40k/HH Night Lords 5000pts.
Orks Waaaghmacht Spearhead 2500pts.

You can issue Orders to the Deathstrike as well. You'd just have to additionally roll to see if it fires.

It comes standard with Ignores Cover though, so you end up basically only using the "Pinning" Order.

Right, that's what I meant - you barely get a use out of the Orders you can issue to the Deathstrike, whereas you can make great use of the Ignores Cover order to the Manticore.

Manticore is actually pretty awesome at stripping hull points off of transports. Essential in the days of glad-spam. Ignores cover also lets it take down ravenwing land speeders, wave serpents, and venom-spam.

Double plus good if your group lets you make it shoot two missiles in one turn with the engineseer.

Would that be the power of the machione spirit ability with the Engineseer?

Obviously, the Deathstrike Squad-Car is superior to the Manticore!
