Everyone one I know plays like 3k points list" big games but it is the upstairs "for adults" in the games club with boose and such. So games are left there for a day or 2 on the weekend.

Now I am about to order the Tau codex but would like an idea of what to order with it. I want to avoid fire warriors, the bugs and the weird... bird face kroot people as much as posible. What should I pick up? I was thinking 2 get started tau army cause I think that would meet the minium warriors I need then I can deck out in suits?

Fire Warriors are actually really good. Crisis suits are always lovely and Stormsurges are a good taunar alt.

A single box would give you the minimum number of fire warriors, since you can split it into two squads of five.

Alternately, you could go Farsight Enclaves with Mont'ka or the new codex supplement, and take Crisis suits as your troops.

Having bought both the XV107 and XV109, you actually don't have both of those AND 2 riptides. The two riptides you have will be needed to meld with the resin to make the XV107 and XV109. Like everyone else said though, one strike team/breacher box and you have a legal list. It will be a bit off balance, but "legal".
