Hi all!

Thanks for taking a look at my humble i28 Blog. I'm completely new to the whole Wargames thing (but not to the 40k fluff, I love GW's lore), and some may say I'm diving in at the deep end by starting a conversion-intensive force, but I've done a lot of artwork before, just not in 3d, and I like a challenge, so here goes. I've spent the past few weeks gathering bitz, and had a clear view in mind with where I want to go with this project. After all, it's only a handful of models to start with. How hard can it be?

This is the warband of Radical Inquisitor Ezekiel Gideon, formerly of the Ordo Hereticus, wrongfully declared heretic by The High Lords of Terra, and forced to flee into the Underhive to continue the Emperors work, albeit away from the Emperors Light and Divine Protection.

First up is the Inquisitor himself. Made from a set of Terminator legs, a Space Marine upper body with the details removed, and various other bits including Blood Angels Sanguinary Guard, Chaos Knights, and even Fabius Bile, the aim was to make him look as large and intimidating as possible, so true scaling him seemed like the way to go. And yes, I'm aware he looks like a Techmarine. This was totally accidental. Still a WIP, a lot more detailing to go here!

Next up we have the Inquisitors Familiar/Cherub Talon, a by-product of too many experiments into the effects of mutation (more on this when I get to writing some fluff up for the retinue). Made from a Vampire Counts Ghoul, tons of Green Stuff and Sanguinary Guard wings. Still WIP as is, but probably the closest to being done.

Next we have a Death Cult Assassin, Anna, part of a pair (her sister Bella coming soon), made from various Dark Eldar Wych parts with the spikey bits removed. The blades come from a pair of High Elf Warriors from the LOTR range.

This is my first heavy, Thadius, a pretty simple job, de-Chaos-ifying a cultist from the Dark Vengeance box, and changing the head for a hooded Wood Elf Waywatcher one. Pretty simple conversion but I still quite like it.

Probably the simplest conversion so far, penitent Witch Tabitha is made from a Vampire Counts Banshee, with some wire wrapped round her arms creating bonds. Super excited to see what this model looks like when it's not painted like a ghost haha!

And finally, my first "Warrior Guardsman", I found this at a Wargaming rummage sale, I think he's from the Warmachine Khador range? The plan is to replace the end of the sniper rifle with the end of a lasgun, and replace the weapon on his back with something more Inquisitorial.

Comments and criticism are appreciated, the more constructive the better. Since I'm just starting out it would be nice to get some feedback.
Cheers,
GreyMerchant

What an awesome start to a project! The Inquisitor is great, but that Cyber-familiar steals the show, wonderfully freaky! Everything else is coming along nicely as well!

Everything is great, but I like the simplest ones best. The heavy weapon guy looks so different to the original model - it is surprising to see how much simple changes can affect him.

The guys with the long rifle reminds me of the Ultramarine scout special character, hardly surprising as they are both snipers with beards. I don't think he'll need much doing to him either - making his weapon a las-sniper rifle will probably do most of the job, like you said.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Great start!

I really like the Bondage Ninja, I've seen DE conversions before but yours looks very natural.

How funny though, I have the same banshee on my table for pretty much the same purpose!

Those old banshees are some great models.

Wait, so these are the first minis you've ever painted?
I'm done. I quit. These are really good.

But seriously I'll be keeping an eye on this, all the stuff you started off with looks great!

Haha that's what I was going for, love that other people get it too! I had traditional gothic horror in mind and I'm glad my first sculpting work is going over well!

Yeah I quite like the cultist models to start with, have a few more on the chopping block too, watch this space!
Tellion? I kinda see where you're coming from with that

Thank you sir! Yeah I picked the Banshee up for like a dollar and it seemed like a natural progression haha

Well thank you very much! Yeah apart from a few characters for a D&D campaign this is the first work I've done at this scale!

Thanks very much for the kind comments guys, you've spurred me on to actually get some more hours in on these after work, will likely post progress pics tomorrow!

Been super terrible at updating this recently, I have got some work done and I have some days off midweek to update. Every one of the gang have at least some paint on them, and I'll be starting work on the next gang: Ork Freebooters!
